    My procedure !!!!!

    Mate,

This is how I do it....

I have a new Samsung 8 Series TV which is my main target device. This plays H264 files natively from devices plugged into it's USB port.

To this I have attached a SATA hub which I can just plug in and remove SATA disks without any screws, etc and as a bonus it has 4 different card readers which the Sammy recognises and allows you o play music, pix, etc from them. I also have another one attached to my encoding PC.

For my movies, I have a few 1Tb SATA drives on which I maintain the content.

In the evening, before I go to bed, I set up the queue to process the 6-10 titles that I want with the H264 profile with the target as the hard disk which I have taken from the TV to the PC and then set it all going with the shutdown parameter set.

In the morning, I wake up & the computer is turned off. I remove the hard disk from the hub attached to the PC, plug it back in to the one attached to the TV and whenI turn the TV on, all the new content is there.

By pressing a couple of buttons, you can then just choose which feature you want to play out of a library of thousands!!!!

    Sweet !!!!!

I don't use Bill's Fabatch process as it doesn't give me control over the heavily modified custom profiles that I use for the Samsung. (and other devices)

This is option 1. I have a few other ways that I play files in my house as I have quite a variety of media players and have set in place other processes for them but my Sammy is my main device.

Very INTERESTING .... I want to know MORE .... do you have this in another thread or should we continue the discussion here as it is somewhat off the thread topic .... i.e. I have a 46" Sammy and a 52" Phillips, both with USB .... but my Main HT (52" Phillips) is driven off of a HONKIN Onkyo .... I'll see if I can find a thread where I have already discussed it. My Sammy is a Series 8 but I understand that a Series 7 will also do it.

EDIT: I see you are back, I will review those links tomorrow and get back to ya ..... THX !!

Well if you find the thread let me know, for now I gonna go rest is past midnight here in Las Vegas.

My first big question is playing those small portable files on a 52" screen. But I'll wait for you to find the thread, or create a NEW one so we can discuss this in more detail.

I currently use 3 USB enclosure IDE/Sata drives, mostly for storing 360 and Wii iso's, but thought about using 1 for the portable movie iso's or H264 files as you mentioned.

              Ciao (getting tired) !!

Alien, I had checked the DMA and such many times. Did it with DVDFab and manually. I even found a way to reset window's registry for when you insert scratched discs and Windows will automatically set it to POI and not let it change even though you will see that they say they are set to DMA. Worked for awhile, then none of that worked. Deleted all the drivers, downloaded an old driver for my Samsung (it was Ver6 went to Ver0) and it works better than it ever did. Not saying that DVDFab caused the problems, just noticed that I would have such problems after using the Shut Down box. Still in experimental phase.

                  I use it often

I use it alot actually, I have alot of money in my computer and dont want it to run 24/7 so I will set it up to shut off, before I go to bed or outside to do some work or maybe when the family is pulling me out of the house to go out to eat or something like that.
Could I live without yeah I guess so, but I would rather they keep it as an option.

I was never asking to remove the option to shutdown. But, I was hoping that the selection field could be narrowed down to just the CHECK BOX. As I mentioned in the initial first post, the selection of this option extends way beyond the end of the text. Look at the arrow/cursor in the first post.

                      Regards,

I have also on occasion clicked it by mistake and agree it could be trimmed down to just the check box. after backing up a movie before my computer just shut down and I go into panic mode not knowing what exactly what was going on

I've done this at least 5 times with processes running in the background that had to be started over after reboot, time wasted .....

I never intentionally used it! I have over 800 DVD's that I have put through DVDFab. I have a 7TB Windows Home server with 3 DVD drives hooked up. I would also run a couple laptops so I could do 5 or 6 disks at a time. With the wide sensitive area for the check box, sometimes I would find the server shutting down while the other processes are running. It took me a while to find how this was happening. Did not make me very happy. This is the second time to backup about 300 of these DVD's making over 1,100 backups done.

After lurking for nearly a year, I've finally registered on these forums for the sole purpose of posting a message in the suggestion forum to ask for the shutdown option to be made optional!

I'm going through my DVD collection, ripping them in the background whilst working, and have just managed to shut my PC down for about the 5th time. Obviously, once again, I've managed to click into the Fab window and been vaguely near enough to the option box to register a tick! AGH!

Personally, I would *never* want to shut down after a rip.

So, I'm begging you, PLEASE give us an option to completely remove the "Automatically shut down the PC when done" option, so I never lose unsaved work again!

I will never use this option, Automatic PC Shutdown.
If use, I'll never know if I'm successful burning or not.
