Disc Burning Error/ Not recognizing Disc

    Disc Burning Error/ Not recognizing Disc

    I actually have two issues.

    1. I was using version 6.0.4.0 and all of a sudden it stopped buring my DVD9 discs but will burn my DVD5 discs. Can anyone tell me why? Here is the error log:

    2. I upgraded to 8.0.6.6 and burned fine yesterday but today it won't recognize the disc is in the drive to burn. Any help in rectifying? Here is the log on the one that it would not recognize.

    I have to say it the cheap media you are using for the DL blanks you have in addition to using the VSO burn engine bundled with DVDFab. I suggest trying ImgBurn to see if that will work to burn that media. If it does not then you may need to find some better DL media like verbatim


    There is an easy way to set DVDFab and ImgBurn for your needs.
    Very easy takes less than 2 minutes.
    Once setup you will not have to click any additional buttons when using ImgBurn with DVDFab to burn single layer DVD5 media.

    Set DVDFab to use ImgBurn burn engine and recommended speed
    1. Click Common Settings in the upper right corner
    2. Click the Write Tab under DVD / Blu-ray
    3. Select ImgBurn Burn Engine
    4. Select Recommended Write Speed [only for use with ImgBurn Auto Write Speed]
    5. Select OK and restart DVDFab to apply the changed settings

    1. Insert your blank dvd media
    2. Click Write Mode from the EZ-Mode Picker
    3. Select AWS as your Write Speed
    4. Click Change Automatic Write Speed
    5. Select the desired Write Speed
    6. Click Add
    7. Set the AWS for each brand/mid of blank media you will use. You may also select different write speeds for multiple burning drives.
    8. Click OK
    Then just copy and burn as usual.
    DVDFab will automatically open ImgBurn and automatically Close when the burn is finished.

    Note: When burning a Dual Layer DVD, ImgBurn will present you with a Create Layer Break window. Select the best layer break according to the colored stars. You can even preview the layer break to ensure the transition will not interfere with your movie.

      I can assure you that it is not the media. It may be cheap but I have been 150 for 150 on burning these discs until the switch from Version 6.0.4.0 to Version 8.0.6.6. I also prefer not using Image Burn because I don't like to have to come back and choose the Create Layer Break option.

      I was hoping someone has figured out why the drive is no longer recognized since the upgrade to the new version and had a fix for it.

        Hi hmarx,

        Please use the latest version DVDFab 8.0.6.8 to burn, if you still can not burn to dvd9 disc, please post your dvdfab_burn_vso.log for checking. Thanks.

          I just tried it again and the same thing happened. It allows me to choose the region and then it just keeps searching for the drive.

            @ Hmarx

            Understand your reservations on changing media & also burn engine (from VSO to ImgBurn) however you may like to try it as suggested by AGJ.

            1) It's good advice

            2) You get to see if it will work this way

            3) If it still does not work it may well shine some more light as to the nature of the problem

            Appreciate the 150 for 150 with your current media but this is not alot of discs and it could be the case the discs' your now using are a bad batch etc...

            Personally I always use Verbatim and have always found these are hugely reliable media -- even this said I might have had one odd disc that's not worked mainly due to my mis-handleing before trying to use (read -- getting scratched etc..) and over the years I've backed up many 100's of discs.

            Last point for me --- I used to use VSO as the engine of choice and did not see why I should need to use ImgBurn etc... I did change to ImgBurn some time back now and how not regretted it one bit.

            If anything this is so far more flexible/capable for me I wish I'd done it sooner.

            I realise this does not solve your issue but perhaps helps a little.
