I downloaded the newest version of dvdfab and I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I have reset the DMA and am not sure what else I need to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

You have several hurdles.
Let's take 'em in order of ease and expense.

Your burner, firmware and burn engine (VSO...Fab's default burn engine) aren't getting along with the media you're using.
Please change burn engines to Img

Here's a c&p of a post to help you out

Download link:
http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

Download, save to hdd, close, right click on installer and from the dropdown, click run as administrator

Open Fab, enter Common Settings

Now follow the screenshots 1, 2 & 3.

1) Click Write
2) Select Img from the dropdown
3) Select Recommended for the Write speed from the dropdown

For the time being, you can just use my settings for anything else.
The Writable Media (DVD-5) Size may be a bit to high for your Ritek brand, so you may want to lower this to the low default of 4300 MB just to be safe, but I think you'll be ok.
As CR929 suggested, you can also tick Set Booktype to DVD-ROM (Only for DVD+R/RW media)
(I have my burners set up to booktype via firmware, so it's independent of any software)

Also, you'll want to set up the Automatic Write Speed (AWS) option in Img.
(This will retain the media ID, burner and burn speed settings).

Here is the AWS set up from a previous post:

1) Insert your blank dvd media
2) Click Write Mode from the EZ-Mode Picker
3) Select AWS as your Write Speed
4) Click Change Automatic Write Speed
5) Select the desired Write Speed
6) Click Add
7) Set the AWS for each brand/mid of blank media you will use. You may also select different write speeds for multiple burning drives.
8) Click OK

Here's a tutorial on AWS from LUK!, the author of Img.
Hello and welcome to another of my legendary guides *cough* In this one I'll be explaining how to use the new 'Automatic Write Speed' feature found in versions 2.2.0.0 onwards. You're burning too fast given your burner, even though the media is rated up to 16X.
Try 4X

Don't mean to be offensive, but your blank media (RITEK-F16-01)
is marginal to crappy quality.
Please try to pick up Taiyo Yuden (online only for most of the planet)
or Verbatim...available in brick and mortar stores as well as online.
Be certain the spindle wrapper displays the AZO Dye logo...as this is the good stuff.

Your burner is a slimline (?dell laptop) and is less than ideal for video archiving.
If you're planning onmuch burning, I'd recommend investing in an external burner.

Try the first items first. You can probably get the Riteks to burn, but when you run out of 'em, pick up some Verbs

Hi amyhood
A few suggestions for you, lose the media you are using Media ID: RITEK-F16-01 and pick up some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim with the AZO Dye on the label.
If you want to salvage the media you have now I suggest using ImgBurn with Fab to burn your backups it is "free" and you will find it here along with a tutorial on setting it up with Fab http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=33 remember to set up the AWS in ImgBurn and your burn speed should be 1/2 the rated speed of your media, which in your case of the media you are using now would be 4x.
And this is the latest version you could also try http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=11437
Give this a try and post back
