error 111 in the process log

Please install the latest version of Fab here
Also turn off any programs that use an auto play feature and also update your OS from SP2 to SP3.

I dumped the hard drive and did a complete reinstallation.
Still not able to burn anything with dvdfab or nero.
The drive is busy being used by nobody.
That's what the error message says.

I found that someone here fixed that be deleting filters in regedit but I looked and I don't have any filters to delete.

I bought a new DVDram SATA drive, same error:

This may or may not apply to your case, but my sister-in-law got some very persistant malware. I had to format the drive and take the power off the computer before reinstalling the OS to remove it from the RAM or it remained. An install over the top of the OS didn't rid the system of the bug.

My thoughts are similar to 90312.
I'm not sure what you mean when you said,
"I dumped the hard drive and did a complete reinstallation".

My daughter once had some really nasty malware on her old hp.
I reformatted the the hdd with an XP Pro disc and did a brand new install.
Still was messed up...I began thinking the hdd itself was somehow irreparably damaged.

Here's what I recommend.

Run this freeware hdd eraser, Kill Disk:

KillDisk: Disk Eraser, Wiper & Sanitizer - Erase HDD/SSD/USB/NVMe Securely

Active@ Kill Disk is a hard drive eraser software for secure formatting of hard drives without any possibility of following data recovery.

I was able to resurrect my daughter's hdd and have used Kill disk a few more times with great success.
The freeware version will utilize one-pass-zeros data destruction method.
It's a watered-down version of what the US Dept of Defense uses.

Be careful you don't have another hdd in the system that you inadvertantly wipe.

I'll try that when I get back.

I deleted the partition (only partition) then formatted it.

There is another disk in the system...

Defintely wipe the entire hdd.

I've never had the misfortune of erasing the wrong hdd. You will receive a confirmation prompt and have to type something like erase all data.
Personally, I'd unplug your other hdd(s) just to avoid any possibility...

Are you also current with all service packs????
Reason why I am asking is I see this allot with members running XP SP2 and not SP3.
