    Zorro, The Complete First Season

I am attempting to backup Walt Disney Treasures, Zorro, The Complete First Season. The first disc in the series throws an Error 401 as it tries to analyze the disc and puts a box on the screen, "Process Failed!". I’ve tried all three Pathplayer settings with no change in results. Here are the logs from my last two attempts. Any suggestions?

Not sure what problem is as DVDFab should be able to do this Zorro set. Have you tried changing the A/V Codec setting to software for all choices?

          Hi Senor Bag,

Please post the INFO files of original DVD here. A recommended way is listed below:
          1. Insert original disc into DVD drive, run DVDFab to open it.
          2. Go to "Common Settings-info", save info file of this disc you're experiencing issues with. Thanks.

          Sincerely,
          Sunny

Yes. All of the A/V Codec settings are set to "software".

After repeated attempts to backup Zorro, The Complete First Season using DVDFab 8079B, I decided to try another tactic. I downloaded Passkey 8022 and in combination with ImgBurn, it had no problem in making a backup of Zorro. Today I downloaded DVDFab 8082 and found that it still can’t backup the first season of Zorro. There are six discs in this set and regular DVDFab can’t decrypt any of them. However, DVDFab can backup the six discs in the second season of the Zorro collection without any problems. There must be some oddity in the set of first season Zorro discs that regular DVDFab can’t handle.

I tried all the usual remedies (i.e. cleaning the discs, changing pathplayer, ignore all errors, using three different drives to read/write the data, clean reinstall of DVDFab, etc.) and nothing has worked except Passkey. Also, Passkey worked without changing any of its default settings. It’s a mystery to me. Can anyone explain to me why Passkey worked and regular DVDFab failed? It would seem that I need to purchase Passkey too.

I plan on ordering both season sets of Zorro from Disney Movie Rewards as I have over 20,000 points with them and the Zorro 2 seasons are only about 4,500 points. Once they arrive I will give the first season a try to see what the problem

That’s great news! I’ll be looking forward to your experience with this DVD volume. I have some more information that may help shed some light on the problem. I purchased this set of DVD’s when they were first released on November 3, 2009. After looking through my cache of backups, I discovered that I had made either a clone or a full disk copy of the first DVD in the season one set. I only made a backup of the first disc as a test to make sure that DVDFab could indeed backup this entire volume. I then put the original discs in a safe storage area. My intention was to archive the entire set (and all nine waves of the Walt Disney Treasures set) to a large hard drive at a later date. At that time, I did not have a hard drive large enough for the task.

I recently bought several large hard drives and started to archive my collection when I ran into the current problem. After discovering the DVD backup I had made, I realized that an earlier version of DVDFab had been successful in making the backup. I most likely used version 6205 to make the original backup but it could also have been version 6218 or 7030. At any rate, it is clear that an earlier version of DVDFab had been completely successful in backing up disc one of Zorro, The Complete First Season. I still don’t understand why the current version fails.

Let me add that in order to get a working DVD using Passkey with ImgBurn, I first had to create an image file on my hard drive from the original disc and then write the image file from the hard drive to a DVD. Passkey/ImgBurn would not allow me to (build) write files/folders from the original disc to a DVD. I think there are just too many files on the original DVD and they have an odd structure.

Thanks to both you and sunny for all the help!

                    Update

BINGO! I found the answer. I downloaded DVDFab 6218 and it had no problem making a full disk backup of Zorro, The Complete First Season. I still don’t know why the newest version of DVDFab has a problem with this disk but I have determined that this older version works!

For reasons unknown to me, the newer versions of DVDFab can not decrypt this DVD title.

V8085 still can handle Zorro, The Complete First Season. When the first disc of the series is opened up by DVDFab, it shows the DVD 5 Quality at 10% (38,967 GB > 4300 MB) and it shows DVD 9 as Quality 20% (38,967 GB > 8100 MB).

Both of my 1st and the 2nd season sets have a release date of 2009. They are "Wave 9" of the Walt Disney Treasures series. The official release date was November 3, 2009 for this set.

Your 1st season set dated 2006 is a different volume. See this link:

                          )

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if the 2006 version presents problems as well. I'll be standing by.

Sorry for taking so long to reply back but I just finally had the time to try this out. So I tried Zorro Season 1 Disc 1 with Pathplayer Enabled/Disabled and no problems ripping to hard drive with DVDFab DVD Copy Full Disc DVD5 size just have not watched to see if it plays correctly.

I used the DVDFab 8.0.9.0 QT and Below is my info log for the DVD I tried and even though it says Pathplayer Disabled I have it set as Always Enabled

So I tried Zorro Season 1 Disc 1 with Pathplayer Enabled/Disabled and no problems ripping to hard drive with DVDFab DVD Copy Full Disc DVD5 size just have not watched to see if it plays correctly.

I used the DVDFab 8.0.9.0 QT and Below is my info log for the DVD I tried and even though it says Pathplayer Disabled I have it set as Always Enabled

v8085, v8089 Qt Beta and v8092 Qt still can’t handle Zorro, The Complete First Season. With any of these versions when the first disc of the series is opened up by DVDFab, it shows the DVD 5 Quality at 10% (38,967 GB > 4300 MB) and it shows DVD 9 as Quality 20% (38,967 GB > 8100 MB).

However, DVDFab v6218 reads the disc perfectly. When making a Full Disc copy it shows Quality 64% (6686 MB >4300 MB) and for DVD 9 it shows Quality 100% (6686 MB > 6686 MB).

Some sort of bug was introduced into DVDFab after v6218 that causes it to show that this DVD contains 38,967 GB of data. I don’t know at what point in DVDFab development the bug first showed up. I only discovered the solution because I had previously made a backup of this DVD when I first purchased it back in November, 2009. I was waiting to complete my set of Disney Treasure DVD’s before I did a complete archive to hard disc. When I attempted to backup this disc in March, 2011, the current DVDFab version wouldn’t work on this disc.

To this date the current DVDFab v8092 Qt still can't copy this disc correctly. I've sent logs to the DVDFab staff showing the problem but as I've stated, the old v6218 works perfectly on this disc.
