Ok so you purchased DVDFab DVD Copy as you was originally using the Free DVDFab HD Decryptor. I think that problem you are having is because your folders on computer are DVD9 size and you are probably using a DVD5 blank. You will need to redo those folders and compress them to a DVD5 size as the Write Data does not compress.

Very frustrating . . . I just tried to post a long entry only to have it denied because of some security link, so now I have to do this all over again.

Anyway...I'm not at home now to copy and paste the log information, but will when I return there in a couple of hours.

In the meantime, I do have the default set at DVD5, but wouldn't that only really matter for the final copy process to a blank disc??? The problem I'm having now is with the initial process of reading the original disc to create the files. Again, for more than a year, I've never encountered this problem before when I was with the Free HD Decrypter, either with 8.0.7.3. or 6.0.6.0; since the purchase to add the "Write Data" feature, neither of these versions, including 8.0.8.2., are able to read the original discs, showing me the Reading/Writing error within 1-3 minutes of the process every time.

Other thoughts -- could the problem be with the CD-ROM drive? Could there be something between the communication of that all of a sudden, with your software? Original DVDs play fine on my computer, but I don't know, just asking. Also, what about "Common Setting?" Could there be some things inappropriately checked or unchecked that could cause this? I've tried enabling and disabling PathPlayer, but to no avail.

Betsy part of what is making this hard to trouble shoot is your confusing terminology.

You did not purchase write Data. You purchased DVD Copy which has the ability to write to a dvd.

        You mention your CD-ROM drive.
A cd-rom drive will not read a dvd only a dvd reader / burner will read and write to a dvd.

It is some setting on your computer causing the problem and none of us can see what is happening from here.

You need to explain in detail what you are doing and what is happening in terms us dummies can understand in order to help you.

I'm really at a loss in how to explain this any better. I was tooling along just fine with my 8.0.7.3. Free Edition (and the 6.0.6.0 before that) for copying/burning [I don't know which one of these is correct] the original dvd to folders in my harddrive, and then copying/burning [again, I don't know which one is correct] with my CyberLink Media Suite onto a blank disc. Until about a week ago, my CyberLink Media Suite all of a sudden wasn't doing its function. A friend of mine told me I didn't need that and that DVDFab has a "Write Data" function which does the same thing, but in order to use that function I would have to upgrade, purchase, WHATEVER(!) from my current Free Edition first. So I did, on the website, for $46-something, and then proceeded to download and register the key. From that point on is when the trouble started and I began to get these "Reading/Writing" error messages that I described in my first post. I honestly don't know how else to say all this, or what terminology I'm suppose to be using.

There are no other details to offer that I can think of. I brought up the CD-ROM . . . is that the slide out drawer in the tower that you put the DVD in for watching or copying (reading)???????? If it isn't than that's what I'm talking about. As far as a setting on my computer causing the problem???? Well I did nothing different than to download the new paid-for version. I've even tried to disable the Firewall to see if that helped, but the same results occurred.

Again, I don't know how else to describe this, but at this point I'm really over it. I've paid for something that I haven't been able to use in five days. All I know is before that, everything was working fine. What other information can I possible give you that I haven't????

            The logs Betsy the logs.
            Where are the logs?

Take a look at the slide out thingy that you put the disc in.
Does it say CD or does it say DVD on the front of the drawer?

I will send the logs as soon as I get home.

It's the same drawer I've always used; I haven't changed anything.

Sounds like maybe your DVD burner went bad. Have you tried just putting a DVD movie in the drive to see if it will play? Or putting in an already burned DVD and trying to write it back to the hard drive?

Yes, Mike, I've done both. I've tried playing a store-bought movie and it plays fine, as well as I've tried to take an already burned DVD and write it back, but again, I get the Reading/Writing error message within 1-3 minutes of the process.

I'll be home in about an hour and will post the logs. Moderator: Do you want only the information from the two folders, "internal" and the "backup"? Not the "event" and "process" ones, right?

The internal log will give us the most information.

Are you trying to copy a copy or copy an original disc?

That shows your problem is outside of DVDFab.

Of if she is trying to make a copy of a copy she might need to turn off Pathplayer.
Still a guessing game until we get more information.

I have tried both copies and originals.

Since I didn't get an answer to my question, I'll just provide the most current info from the "internal" and "burn" log files. I will need to leave again in an hour and would appreciate knowing something before if at all possible. Thank you.

P.S. As I've stated in another post, I tried disabling PathPlayer, to no avail.

"Since I didn't get an answer to my question,"

Your question was answered in post #24 when I said Internal log.

Second posting information from V 6060 which has been obsolete since 9.18.2009 is a waste of time.
I don't think anyone wants to trouble shoot old software.

Post what you have from V8082 and ........

                              Update to V8083.

I see no attempts to burn anything here!!!!

What the heck kind of procedure are you following?
