Why won't the video play in some DVD players?

Some DVD players fail to play video that I burn with DVDFab DVD Copy, no matter what the source (NTSC or PAL). I'm wondering if I need to change the A/V Codec settings. I'm using the default settings, which in the the "General" section are:

Video Decoder
H.264: DXVA (options: Software, CUDA, CoreAVC)
VC1: DXVA (options: Software, CUDA)
MPEG2: Software (options: DXVA, CUDA)

Video Encoder
H.264: Software (option: Software + CUDA)

I have "Enable Lightning-Recoding..." enabled.

Codec Information
~ Graphics Chipset: ATI All-in-Wonder HD
~ Supported Video Codecs: DXVA_MODE_H264, DXVA_MODE_VC1

CoreAVC: is detected

Any ideas what I might try?

You might try buying some DVD+R disks and be sure to change the booktype to DVD-ROM. The player in the van and the little portable ones the grandkids have will not play DVD-R or DVD+R that don't have the booktype changed. The Newer HD player in the living room will play anything.

I always use DVD+R media and a large variety brands. A friend of mine has a new HD DVD player that supports Bluray, but none of the videos I burn play on his system; so I'm not sure if all modern players are created equal. My old Philips--slow as it is to start reading a dis--has never failed to play any video that I have backed up.

For anyone else that is experiencing the same problem, below are the steps to change the Booktype bitsetting.

1. Click on settings button (check mark on green icon in upper right corner).
2. DVD / Bluray -> Write.
3. Check "Set booktype to DVD-ROM...".
4. OK.

Have you verified that the booktype has actually been changed? Some drives just won't do it.
