    writing fails

    Hi I'm getting writing fails alot, I did dvd copy the failure would happen near the middle or almost at the end, it asked me to try again I would say yes then it would burn successfully, and this would happen alot burn fail try again yes then it would be successful, on most dvds I tried this is happening, even when I tried rip to rip then burn as a separate step my log is below thanks! btw the media is memrox dvd+dl.

    Purchase better quality blank disc.
    Burn at a slower speed.
    Reset you drive to DMA mode.
    Use Imgburn as your burn engine instead of VSO.
    Update your software to V 8.1.0.6

      Couple of things:
      (a) your burner is in PIO mode:

      Go to General Settings ->General ->Reset DMA. This happens after so many errors...
      (b) Try to use ImgBurn as burning engine instead of VSO or update DVDFab to latest 8.1.0.6QT Beta - VSO engine was updated in that built. ImgBurn however, is highly recommended. You can learn how to do that here:
      (c) No offense, but you have crappy burner and you using crappiest media out there. Yet, you using max. writhing speed. I tell you that's a recipe for disaster (or failure). Never (even with good quality media) use max. nominal writing speed, use half of what it says on a box.
      I hope this is enough solutions for starters

          really the burner is crap, thats sucks it it a alienware laptop with the money I paid wish I didnt hear that, and the media is memrox whats up with ritek? I got it at bestbuy. I'll try the suggestions, but I didnt set the burn speed at max and why is the settings set at max and vso engine if it sucks? btw I have nero can I use that instead of imgburn?

            Sorry man... That's why I build my machines myself.
            Dell, Lenovo and other off-shelf cheap crap-makers uses this brand/model. Why do you think their "computers" are so cheap? They doing OK on profits too...
            BTW, Sony (manufacturer of these drives) aren't using them in their VAIOs!!!

            and the media is memrox whats up with ritek?
            It just a branding... Ritek suck and makes crappy media for a bunch of known brands... Verbs are good.

            btw I have nero can I use that instead of imgburn?
            You can use any of three - VSO, ImgBurn or Nero. Again, ImgBurn is highly recommended.

              Blank disc manufacturers are required to put their ID on each disc they make, regardless of whatever brand name is on the box. We have no doubt you purchased Memorex at Best Buy, but the log is telling us that Ritek were the people who actually made that disc.

              You may not have set the burn speed at max., you may have ignored that setting entirely prior to the actual burn, but Fab read the write strategy on the disc, and the log again indicated the setting for burn was 4X (the max. that disc supports).

              No one has said that VSO sucks... it's just that some people have had more problems with it than others... so for them we recommend Imgburn.

              Yes... if you want to, you can use Nero to burn... but we have had reports of problems with that program, too.

              Please let us know how you make out with all this.
