    New Versions Endless Read

I've been using 8.0.8.5 for some time now without ever having an issue. However, every time I try to run a new version of the program (most recently 8.1.0.5 QT) I run into the same problem: An endless read of the disc I'm trying to backup. I also don't hear the DVD drive running but I digress... When I hit "Cancel" the program freezes and I have to use the task manager to close it. I then can go back to 8.0.8.5 and everything works flawlessly.

I saw in another thread to try resetting the DMA but that didn't help. There must be something I'm missing. Pathplayer is always enabled. Here is a copy of a recent log and you can see the program doesn't get very far.

I'm running Windows 7 if that helps.

    Thanks!

It happens with all movies attempted. I tried the 8.1.0.6 Beta as requested and had the exact same issues. Again, DVD drive doesn't sound like it's doing anything when trying to read.

As you can see, Brewster's Millions actually worked both times I tried it! That's the only one I've gotten to work. But, Made and the Star Trek Movie wouldn't finish reading beyond picking up the title which is the typical result.

I had mixed results. First, Star Trek and Made opened fine. So I attempted to open some other discs that I've recently backed up on the older version and started having trouble again. Trading Places wouldn't open so I put made back in and it didn't open this time either.

You just have to play with PathPlayer. Some older DVDs don't need PathPlayer.

So I need to play with pathplayer in the new version but not the old? That's not really a fix. Besides, it's hit or miss on the same movies with or without pathplayer.

                  Read this:

                  Q: What is PathPlayer?
A: PathPlayer gives DVDFab the ability to copy DVD content only allowed to be played on a real DVD player. In this way, DVDFab will ignore unplayable content which may contain copy protection.
                  And this: http://www.dvdfab.com/manual/settings/PathPlayer

I read that and I have a better understanding of pathplayer now but that still doesn't seem to have any affect on my problems. Let me re-emphasize that all dvd's that won't open on 8.1.0.6 open perfectly fine when I open them on 8.0.8.5. Also, we should stop thinking about the program doing an endless read when using 8.1.0.6 but instead it's just freezing up. The program actually freezes and I can tell the the dvd-rom is no longer reading. I can't hit cancel or even close the program naturally. I have to task-manager close it.

OK. What setting for reading errors do you have?... In 8.1.0.6QT and 8.0.8.5. Is it same or different?

Read error settings are the same on both programs.

Due to issues opening a dvd on 8106 I have only burned using 8085. Here is a recent burn log.
