DVD's sticking and "attempting to read media"

We recently switched to Verbatim DVD-R w/AZO. So far every dvd we've backed up "sticks" while watching. We've tried in our Xbox 360 and dvd player to see if it was one of them. Some are worse then others but each one sticks and and ont he xbox it says "attempting to read media". It's becoming a real pain in the butt. lol Anyone encountered this problem?

We've had this problem on version 8.0.8.5 and 8.1.0.5. We've also running them on Windows 7, if that matters.

This is almost certainly a burn issue, but just to rule it out...
please playback the files from the hdd via software such as VLC or MPC.
          Do the files play ok?

Also please do as my good friends CBR929 and Gruñón suggest.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

At the risk of sounding stupid, I have no idea what you want me to do.

I will copy/paste any log info for today's date.

                Hi Mtdewangel
What my friend Maineman is asking is to copy the movie to your Hard Drive and view the movie with the suggested media players he suggested.
                Your logs look fine.

The VSO burn engine can be troublesome for some users, so the only other suggestion is to use ImgBurn as your burn engine, it is "free" and you will find a tutorial on setting it up with the link in my signature, and remember to set up the AWS in ImgBurn and set your burn speed to 1/2 the rated speed of your disc's.

Thank you for clarifying that! What media players are VLC or MPC?

We've tried to go about dl IMG before, but I never know what to click to actually dl the one I need.

Editted to ask if the VSO burn engine could just start giving issues after years of working fine? We've been with dvdfab for a few years and this is the first time we've had sticking trouble. We were using Memorax but just swtiched to the Verbatim AZO per a few peoples suggestions on this forum.

First off, my apologies for a quick, less than adequate reply.
In a hurry, but that's life I guess.
And there's nothing stupid about not understanding.

VLC and MPC are both excellent software players (for your pc) and both are freeware.
They will not conflict with one another nor do they take up much room, so it's fine to install both.

Here's a download link for the windows version of VLC (It's also available as open source):

Here you go for MPC (Media Player Classic...again for windoz):

A couple way to approach this.
Just select a location on your hdd as Fab's Target, ie., not your burner.
Then just playback the movie with VLC or MPC directly from your hdd.
Let's take VLC for an example.
Open VLC > Media > Open Folder (not file)
and select the whole movie folder, not any subdirectories.

                    Similar with MPC.

You can also tick or untick...Delete temporary files when done in Fab's Common Settings > General
This will retain the files even after burning (assuming you select your burner as Target) so you can fool with the files later on.
You'll have to remember to switch back though or you'll use up your hdd space as you archive files.

My bet is that the movie plays just fine.

Agree with CBR929 about switching to Img.
VSO simply becomes problematic for many users and not for others.
Don't pull your hair out trying to figure it out...most of us never do and switch anyway...lol

Personally, I don't have issues with VSO, but I use Img almost exclusively.

Img is freeware....more reliable, more configurable and has better support.

You can also select it within Fab as the default burn engine (once it's installed on your pc).
It also can be used as an independent, standalone burn utility..

There's a link in my sig below on setup

Hope this helps and let us know how you make out.
                    Good luck

Thank you for clearing that up! It helped a lot. I appreciate all the help I can get! I did DL the VLC and played the movie in that. It didn't stick. So I DL IMGBurn. I couldn't figure out how to burn straight with IMG, so I did it through dvdfab. Made sure to do how the youtube tutorial showed and burned it.

It's STILL sticking! It's so frustrating! They are not the exact same spots but still in several spots throughout the movie.

This is strange, because your burn log looks perfect.
I use the same Verbatim disc's that you are using and never have had the problem that you are experiencing.

What are you playing them back in?
