Reg 6202 & ImgBurn no ISO, just MDS files

Reg copy of 6202 [was told by singlas to use 6202 for ST]

set up with ImgBurn per the guide.

    Main movie

    Win2k Pro 2195

Ever since I tried doing StarTrek even though I got it set to write ISO to the HD, ImgBurn is making a MDS file instead.

pathplay is enabled, haven't been able to try ST again since I am now using a reg version.

But just did a backup of TropicThunder and got the same results, a MDS file instead of the ISO chosen.

Which means DVDFab wont burn it, I must close it, open ImgBurn on its own to be able to burn it to disk.

Anyone got a clue what I may have done, that I don't realize I did to goof it up so that its not doing the ISO as chosen?

    Hi gator,

I'm completely in the dark here.
I can't imagine how Img is creating an .MDS file while being utililized by Fab as its burn engine and not as a standalone application.

I'm not quite able to connect the dots here.
    You said,
"Ever since I tried doing StarTrek even though I got it set to write ISO to the HD, ImgBurn is making a MDS file instead."

    Then you said,
"...haven't been able to try ST again since I am now using a reg version.".

What do you mean by a reg version?
and what were you using previously that is apparently not reg?

Are you using the retail app and selecting Img as the burn engine, then selecting .ISO as the target and still creating an .MDS file?
If you're ripping the movie, there has to be an .ISO file somewhere. The .MDS is almost invisible in terms of size and contains little info besides the LB

Please describe in detail what application and what versions were used and please post event logs, internal logs, burn logs

      reg = registered

Ever since I tried 6202 free for ST some reason imgburn is making a mds file not an iso.

since reg'in of 6202 it still does it with TT.

I get a mds file not an iso, so I must close dvdfab n burn with imgburn direct.

Probably your HD is formatted as non NTFS and you get a .mds file and some .i01, .i02 files. If that is the true. Just select the .mds file when you want to burn the disc.

So change the auto split setting in imgburn?

Can you have a 2 part iso?

Maybe not and why its defaulting to MDS?

Yes Im using a fat drive, I dual boot 9x still for the cool old games.

Id perfer ISO over MDS since I can back them up as is, and know I can burn them again later with any program.

You can't store a single file that is bigger than 4GB on a FAT system. That's why you get it split into parts and the .mds file as the main file that holds it together.

Now we can suss it out. FAT32 has a maximum file size of ~4Gb. That is causing all of your probs as an ISO is going to be over that most times.

                Good catch, MonkeyGirl.

You can always mount the .mds image and have it to burn with any burning program in the future.

Yeaah, but that's a pain especially if you want to play it to see if it's OK or with a media player.

The easy answer is I need to upgrade my NTFS drive, I got one but its a small 20gig just for the os and some apps.

If you are going to replace it with a larger one, I've found that XXClone is great to "CLONE" the drive without having to reinstall the OS and it's free.

Though they could make it so DVDfab would be able to load the MDS files when I click write data, as it just passes it off the ImgBurn anyways right?

Why not be able to pass off all supported formats?
