    HD Decrypter (free)

    Help,
I am using the free version of DVDFab8 HD Decrypter.
    trial period has expired.
defaults to the free HD Decrypter.
    It copies the disc .
however, it no longer finds the blank DVD-R or DVD-RW or DVD+r or DVD+RW
    once the copy process completes.

Just sits there and with the message "please insert a blank DVD..."

Note: discs will not eject when eject is pressed either.

OS = Win Vista Home Premium
    DVD's are Memorex both +R and +RW

I've even tried to make a DVD from the saved files,, no joy there either

    DVD player will play dvd's

What am I doing wrong, if anything?

    Hi seafarer
If using the free HD Decrypter you will not be prompted for a disc.
Using the free version you will no longer be able to compress or burn to disc, you will have to use third party products to do this or buy the product.

Also give this a read through

Even if it's a little thing, do something for those who have need of help, something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it.

I read and understood that. Thanks,
My concern was I was able to burn discs up until a few weeks ago with and older version of the software. the current version won't do that.
I have a copy of Imgburn that used to work fine and burn a disc from the saved file folder. I want my older version back that worked.
It was the first 8.x.x.x version.
      Thanks.
If the "free" version doesn't work, how do I know the "paid" version will?

A few weeks ago [3 months] you were using the trial version with garbage media. A thread you never came back to......

The free version has never compressed or burned to a disc,
It will rip full disc or main move un-compressed to your hard drive.
That is all it has ever done.

You then need to use a burning software to burn from your hard drive to a disc.
If it needs compression that will have to be done by other software as well.

Great, Thanks for the advice and recommendations.
The free version did save the copied dvd to file.
Now to learn how to burn a dvd from the file copy

                Media question

I now understand that garbage media (Memorex) is not what I should be using.
What brand media works the best?

For anyone wondering what the difference in the two part numbers is. 97459 is the same discs in what they call 'frustration free' packaging. They're both the same price but the 'frustration free' means they sit in a cardboard insert to keep them from flopping around in the box. Not sure what Amazon's logic is here.
