    closed captions often unreadable

I'm one of those people who simply cannot watch any movie or tv show wihtout captions. Even with hearing aids, I'm hopelessly addicted to reading my movies. Sometimes (every 4th or 5th movie) the captions get copied terribly. (I use vnc to play) -- for example, they're gray or a strange color that blends in with the background. I think it's often when the original captions are white with black outline ... the outline becomes white as well .... I'm not sure, but I can't find any setting anywhere to experiment with this. Has anyone else had this problem?? Thanks.

In VLC select tools, then prefrences, then subtitles & OSD. In the display box on the right you can select a higher contrast color like red or something that will help the closed captions stand out.
