    Rip is too Big For DVD-R

    Recently I have occasionally had a problem where DVDFab has ripped a DVD9 disc. But when I use ImgBurn to burn the AUDIO_TS and the VIDEO_TS files, Imgburn says the files are too big to fit on the blank media.

    ImgBurn says that the image and the disc are both 4,488MB, but says the Image has 2,298,224 sectors whilst the blank media only has 2,297,888 sectors.
    My blank media is Taiyo Yuden (TYG03) DVD-R.

    This only seems to happen every now and again.
    I have DVDFab and ImgBurn set up to work together.
    I've just installed v8.1.2.0 and get the same problem.

    Whenever I rip or burn, nothing else is ever running.

    DVD9 is dual layer...DVD5 is single layer.

    You said you are using a DVD-R...you need to compress to DVD5.

      Please set the dvd write size 4300MB in common setting and have a try!

          I went to set it to 4300MB and noticed that I could have a custom setting. So I set it to 4487MB and tried that.

          Bingo!!! It worked.

            you did not clarify yourself. DVD copy can be used to make identical 1:1 copy...so when you say you ripped a DVD9...guess what others might think?

              But my original post said that I ripped it down to 4488MB, which is normally DVD5 size. Problem is that occasionally ImgBurn says that it won't fit on a DVD-R disc.
              Without changing any setting on both programs, I've shrunk movies down to 60% using DVDFab, and still got a perfect burn with ImgBurn.

              I think the problem might be with my media which is Taiyo Yuden TGY03. Good name, but I bulk buy them and they may be seconds.

                The maximum a DVD-5 can hold is 4482.269287MB you’ve been lucky your rips have not exceeded that until now. Set the DVD-5 size to 4472 and forget about it.
