Error 122

I'm trying to backup Captain America to a DVD-9 (Verbatim DVD+R Dual Layer), but i get error #122 and i don't have a clue what the problem is because i'm using quality media.

Your drive is in PIO mode, Open Fab Click the Green √ top right > General > make sure Check for DMA Automatically is Checked and also Click the Reset DMA to the right click OK and restart Fab and try again.

Does your drive have a firmware update available?

No retail firmware, just user mod hacks and custom firmware, but i don't risk to damage the drive. I noticed the PIO mode in the log, but i have DMA automatically enabled so i don't know why dvdfab is using PIO mode.

The PIO mode does not apply to a sata drive so you are fine in that respect.
At least that is my understanding of the sata drives.

I don't know if this have to do with the problem, but i changed "Writable media dvd-9 size) from default to 8152 (MB) in Dvdfab commong settings, after the change it finished fine. Size of the blank discs are 8.5 GB that what's the front shows.

Yeah but 8.5Gb <> 8500Mb.... Manufacturers B/S & false marketing.

They use base 10 for all their calcs.

I would set it 8100MB and stay away from the outer edge a bit.

That depends on how controller is setup in the BIOS, if IDE then it can emulate PIO only mode, if the chip set is new enough and setup as AHCI then no.

One way to know is copy a large file from one drive to another or burn a DVD from an HDD folder where no compression is required while the task manager is open and the performance tab clicked. If in PIO mode the CPU load will be very high, if in DMA mode there will be almost no CPU involvement. If it is really in PIO mode some chip set drivers and Intel Matrix Storage may be required for AHCI.
