Clarification on Cinavia-DVD

I was unclear on Cinavia protection on DVD's. I'm under the impression that there's no certificate solution on standard dvd's as there are on BD's? Can I burn a disc & play it in my PS3?

You cannot play backup of Cinavia DVD on PS3, including DVDR or MP4 file.
