This line from your log "10m 11.72s: failed to send challenge: sensekey 05 asc 64 acsq 00" means illegal mode. I’d say your drive is not wild about the media you're using. ImgBurn might do a better job with the media you have, go and follow the instructions and it will be as seamless as it is now.

Medium is common HP DVD-R, with which I commonly have success, no problems. Note that the failure happens on starting a verify after successful burn.

Using ImgBurn will require an additional pass over the files to create an image file, no? DVDFab copies the files to temp on HDD, then copies the files to DVD, then should verify files. That's where it fails. This for dual-layer DVD to single-layer DVD5.

The media you’re using “Media ID: CMC MAG. AM3†is known to be of inconsistent quality, varies from spindle to spindle. You can buy that media identifier on at least 24 different cheaper brand name blanks.
ImgBurn does not require any more passes than the VSO engine you’re now using to verify.

I will give it a try when I have another disk needing copy.

Can you explain how DVDFab can have no difficulty burning a disk, yet fails starting the verify process? It would seem that the burn would require more intensive use of the hardware and medium than would the verify.

The burn process just writes to the disk, it doesn't ensure that it is correct. The Verify process compares what was written to what it was read from.

I can't answer dav4is, I don't know. I do know ImgBurn works cause I tried it twice today. Once with a DVD and once with an iso image on the HDD on a cheap Memorex RW disc and it verified both times.

Is the compare done by hardware or by software? I can maybe see your point if the actual compare is done by the drive hardware, but not if it is a software process (i.e. read sector then compare to HDD file). If it is a software process, your point would require that a READ is more demanding than a WRITE, which I cannot buy.

Re: VSO's verification I can tell you this...
it has been an unreliable utility...literally, for years.

                      I agree 100% with 90312's advice.
You can bank on Img's verification tool if you are so inclined to use such a tool.

Moreover, Img is a more reliable and configurable burn engine and can be integrated to work seamlessly as Fab's default burn engine.
It has the added benefit of superb support via the author LIGHTNING UK!

Do yourself a couple of huge favors and switch to Img and dump the CMC media in favor of some quality stuff.
Go with Taiyo Yuden (now has a JVC label, but is still made in Japan by TY) or Verbatim with the AZO logo on the spindle label.

Verify still not working -- HELP!!

Now using better quality disks (JVC Taiyo Yuden Silver Lacquer Printable 8X DVD+R Media), which eliminated the previous sensekey messages, but DVDFab still fails to verify the disk after a successful burn -- on two different drives. After long delay in Finalizing, get Process Failed, Task_3 failed error=100.

This does not seem like a media problem!

Can someone from DVDFab please look at this?

                            Hi dav4is
Please do as my friend 90312 suggested and install ImgBurn as your burn engine.

You can use their link or the one in my signature.
Remember to set up the AWS in ImgBurn and set your burn speed to 1/2 the rated speed of your media.

Also try updating to the latest version of Fab found here

Sorry, I accidentally used the older version, which I still have. The new version has the same problem. I'll post the new log files below.

re the 3rd party burn engine: My view is that I paid for DVDFab, and it should work. It doesn't. It should be fixed.
