Blue Screen death DVDFab HDD 6.2.0.5 (11-11-09)

I've been using the Free version. It's been grreat up until the newer
    version 6.2.0.5 .
As the program starts, my screen goes black and then I get the blue screen
    of death.

Message on screen is -- Driver_not_less_or_equal
    Names the file --- usbstor.sys
    I have WinXP Home sp2

I then used the REVO uninstaller and rebooted to try the Trial version.
    The same crash happened.

In a rush to fix my PC, I neglected to save the log files (sorry).

Why would prior free versions work good and this new version crash my PC?
Would an upgrade to WinXP sp3 help out?

It is always good to install all updates for your computer as they fix problems and DVDFab is configured to work with all updates that where out when the version you have installed was released. I do not think DVDFab is what caused the Blue Screen of death so ungrading to SP3 would be good to try

Careful here malware often disguises itself as USBSTOR.SYS and if it is causing BSOD I would be very suspicious.

Well if that the case then have to do a clean install of the OS as the system has been compromised but you could always download and run MBAM (malwarebytes) to see if it will remove it or fix the problem if malware is the issue

I would first install sp3 which installs a later version of usbstor.sys and see if that fixes the problem.

I've been using Malwarebytes for a while. Today I ran the full complete
            scan and nothing was found.
When I upgrade to sp3, I'll let you know what happens. Thanks!

That's good news on the malware scan. Maybe SP3 will fix the problem. Let us know how you make out.

You have some thing attached with USB that you think could make this issue happen? Perhaps unplug suspicious USB devices.

You haven't plugged one of those Magic Jack thingys in, have you?

Today I upgraded to WinXP sp3. Guess what! I upgraded to DVDfab ver. 6.2.0.5.
DVDfab is running, now, and it's working good. I'm sure you're not surprised it is. But I just wanted to let you know that all is working fine. Thanks to all for your help.
