prevents computer from sleeping when copy is finished

Recent versions (unsure when this changed, but fairly recent), maintain a handle to the drive (Directory?) used to copy the disk to (using dvd copy) even when the copy has finished. (i.e. prompt popped up).

In older version, this handle was released apparently released (or at least handled differently so that the computer wasn't prevented from going to sleep).

This matters, because windows will not automatically go to sleep if there is a handle to a network drive. So if one is copying the disk to a network drive (say a large windows share where one stores their backups), right before one goes to bed, the computer will remain awake the entire night (though at least, the user gets to sleep , wasting a decent amount of power.

Why don't you use the "Automatically shut down PC when done" option?

      or an option....

shutdown the program after certain number of minutes has lapsed.
(without activity, after the program finished doing its job/copy).

For some reason DVDFab v8.1.6.3 Qt continues to run in the background even after it has been shut down. I’ve noticed with XP3 that if I have run DVDFab v8.1.6.3 Qt anytime during a session and then I shut down the computer, a window will pop up from Task Manager saying that DVDFab is still running. Task Manager will then shut down DVDFab before Windows XP shuts down. I’ve noticed that this problem has been corrected in v8.1.6.5 Qt Beta.

because I don't want it to automatically shutdown when done

          a) other stuff might be happening. I was the computers ability to automatically put it to sleep when done
          b) I don't want it to shutdown, I want it to go to sleep.

I think my analysis might have been incorrect.

There's a new option "avoid standby when processing". personally unsure why it's needed (perhaps disk activity itself isn't enough to prevent standby?), but it seems to avoid standby even when processing has completed.

That is not a new option.
It has always been a default setting .

ok, so its behavior has changed. my computer used to be able to go to standby after copy finished, now it doesn't.

                    Hi Aseef,
Please make sure you have marked "Prevent standby/hibernation/screensaver when processing" in common settings->general->general.

I was so happy with dvdfab 8, why does 9 still have to be a PITN

A sleep option has been added "when the task completed hibernation".
You can choose this option to sleeping.
