Playback problems

I have been a user of DVDFab for several years, been through Many problems and have resolved many issues. Before that I used DVDDecryptor and DVDShrink... I have VERY picky DVD players at home ( Sony DVP777ES's) and have usually been able to resolve most issues.

I am at my brothers house trying to get his system setup to burn DVD's. and am have all sorts of problems.

After each burn attempt I have tried updating a component. First all of the system drivers and firmware.

Then I added the Samsung DVD Writer (Listed below).

I have tried burning with DVDFab in combination with the VSO, ImgBurn and Nero Engines.

None of this has allowed DVD-R's or DVD+R's to play on any of his Set Top DVD players:
Sony DVP-S550D
GE DVD-VCR Combo
XBOX

These units will play the DVD+R-DL's.....

How old are the DVD Players? Have you looked on the makers site for firware upgrades on them? My new DVD Player in the Living room has been updated 3 times so far. I have an old GE DVD/VCR combo in my daughter's room that gives me problems reading some of the new burns I've done. They will eventually play, but it takes a few ejecting and reinserting the disk to get it to read. Get the model numbers off the DVD Players and check the Manufacturer's website for Firmware upgrades. Most just need put onto a CD-RW and inserted into the Player to update. Easy to do. That may be were your problem is.

Both DVD Set Tops are old, the Phillips firmware is the latest that is available 1.05. The Sony looks like it cannot be updated. Don't know about the XBOX yet.

I have also tried these disks in a APEX AD-500. (Yea, I know things are pretty old around here). and they fail there also.

At this point I am worried that there is a bug in the IO system of the Computer....

1st try some simple cross testing, grab a few disc that you have burned on your system and see if they will play on any/all of your brother's stand alone players and vice versa with the ones burned on his system, test them on your stand alone player's.

Read the Help Us Help You sticky and post a recent burn log from his system. I don't own a XBOX but I think it should play DVD+/-R media.
