The only thing that I can guess with no information (logs) provided by you, is check the drive controller in Device Manager and make sure it has not reverted to PIO Only mode. Change to DMA mode if it has reverted.How to post the internal log

I agree it's not acceptable. If you are still ripping check the performance tab of the task manager to see what the CPU load is, if the controller has reverted to PIO Only mode it will be very high, if in DMA mode the CPU is not involved.How to post the internal log

Please update to the latest version found here and try again.
I doubt that your drive is in PIO mode because it is a Sata drive,but Open Fab Click the Green √ top right > General > make sure Check for DMA Automatically is Checked and also Click the Reset DMA to the right click OK and restart Fab.
You may have to restart your computer also.

If a SATA drive is on an IDE controller it can and will revert. It's the controller not the drive.How to post the internal log
