    Problem burning discs

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I've been happily using DVDfab for ages now with no problems. I tried to copy a couple of discs today on my laptop and although I can copy the disc, writing fails between 52% and 63%. I'm using Tevion media (maybe not the best but I've never had problems before!) and nothing else has changed, other than the laptop hasn't been used for a fortnight while I've been on holiday. I've tried other burning engines with the same result, and also failed to copy discs which have worked before.
Does anybody more computer-literate than myself have any idea what's going on???

Need more info. If you read a couple of the most recent post on failed burns it lists all the things you can check.

Burn engine, Fab LOG, Operating sys, version of Fab....

sorry you are having trouble burning. i see two problems

Slimtype dvd writer and even worse its a MATSHITA. these drives should be avoided

Ritek Media, your disc is probably some name brand. Like Memorex, these disc are no good.

unfortunatly, even if you get the best disc available. i doubt you will have much success with that drive.

Especially when trying to burn at Max speed, not a good combination

Removal of new protections may not be available yet in the free version of DVDFab (HD Decrypter)

I use Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim media mainly.
            Trying Falcon D/L media

I use ImgBurn as my main burning engine

Hi, I've been using the same drive and same brand of media for nearly two years now and had no trouble, any ideas why it's suddenly decided it's not working? I burned one copy yesterday with no problems and the second disc I copied failed, and every attempt since.
It is possible that the drive itself has burned out or something, how would I know?

                2009-09-18 22:22:11 Info Multiword DMA Mode 2

You need that drive to be in UltraDMA mode.
Try using the Reset DMA in Common Settings in the General screen lower right corner.

and yes RITEK-F16-01 media is crappy............and the drive is not the best either.

                Edit:
Are there any instructions for resetting DMA here in this forum?
