    Converting .ISO to standard format

    Hi,

I normally rip DVDs to .ISO format for storage on a Server and watch them via a media player.

However, I now have a need to convert some of these back to standard form to play on a DVD player whilst I'm away as the DVD player doesn't play .ISO files.

I tried to do it and it appeared to convert it fine but it still wouldn't play.

    DVDfab Version : 9.0.2.0

Basically, I ripped the original disc using 'Main Movie' to .ISO and now want to convert back to standard format,

Any ideas how best to do this?

Either you can extract the ISO with a program such as

or mount the ISO with if you don't want to waste space on your hard disk while you watch the ISO. You can also use Windows Explorer to copy the mounted ISO to your hard disk if you want that.

      Hi,

Thanks for the response. However, the .ISO is already on the PC and can watch it as an .ISO via VLC without problem, so I can't see how Virtual drive will help.

The issue I have is wanting to create a DVD in standard form from the .ISO to allow me to watch the film on a portable DVD player which doesn't play .ISO

Will 7-zip allow me to do the above?

Use Fab's "Write Data" module and burn a disk from the IFO dile.

I assume it's the burn option in 9.0.2.0?

I tried to select an .ISO from the hard disk and when it tries to format the disk DVDFab crashes and shuts down - I've tried several disks without success.

          Am I doing something wrong?

ImgBurn will burn an iso image to disc with no muss or fuss. It's free and if you don't have it you need it any way.

I have Imgburn, but will this just put the .ISO onto the disk or will it convert it back to the standard DVD format (which is what I need)

"Write image file to disc" will do what you want.

                  What is your goal?

To put the extracted ISO on a hard disk or on an optical disc?

                    Hi Gummigutta
                    I'm guessing and optical disc!!!

The question is why not use the original disc and just make a copy...

I've been successfully creating a standard DVD disc from an ISO using the Imgburn 'write image file to disc' as suggested in this thread. However, I tried to do the same with 'The Sweeney', which needs a dual layer disc. It completes fine and plays with VLC without issue. However, the DVD will not play in the DVD player - simply says 'disc error'.

Having wasted approx half a dozen discs I thought I'd ask if I'm doing anything obviously wrong before I run out of discs.

Could it be that the DVD player cannot handle dual layered discs, although I thought all players could handle dual layer discs these days as most commercial ones are.

                            Are you still using ImgBurn?
Are you using +R DL blanks?
And are you changing the booktype to DVD-ROM?

Yes, still using Imgburn & +R DL blanks. What is booktype?
