    Cannot detect writable disk

We're having all kinds of problems with DVDFab 6.0.4.0. To copy a real DVD movie to the hard drive is luck of the draw. Sometimes it will take, and sometimes it will not. Then if you come back on 30 minutes, it's up and ready to go. We have never had a problem burning from the harddrive onto a blank DVD, but now it will not burn on any DVDs. We bought a new pack also, nothing. It says it cannot find writeable data in the drive?!? Any clues on to what is happening here. Is the the DVD program, our burner, our computer, the users, what? Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum johnnyp

Sounds like it may be all of the above.
You need to start by checking out the Help us Help you section and posting back with that info for us to start.

      Hi johnnyp and welcome,

Sorry for your trouble, but without any details, it's all just guesswork.
Please provide us with some specifics.
      Take a look here:

If you could provide burn logs of both the successfully burned discs as well as the "failed" burns, this will help us to nail this down.

      Thanks

        Morning maineman

Consistent can be a good thing and slow and old wins the race

Clean lens and check for firmware updates for your burners would be a good start.

                Hi again,

Thanks for the log, but there's still not much info in it.
The process has not yet entered the "burn" stage.
Do you have any successfully completed burn logs ?

Based on your first comments and the entry...

...it appears that you're experiencing some sort of I/O conflict.

There is a recent thread which I believe will help you out.

Please look this over and get back to us with additional details.

You also need to be sure there is no disk in the drive when you start DVDFab. I've done that before when I want to write existing data and have had this issue.

First thing is to try another program, like Imgburn by itself to see if it can recognize the bland DVD in the dvd burner. If it can, then the issue is with DVDFAB .. If it can't then you have an issue with the dvd burner, such as bad IDE cable, bad firmware, burned out burning laser in the drive (the laser for burns and for reading are usually seperate)
