    Failed to Open D:

I've just purchased DVDFab v9.1.2.5 to copy a DVD...

The copy protection is defeating DVDFab. When I click to open the DVD, I get:

    Failed to open D:
    Please check if it's playable.

It is playable on my BluRay/DVD player, but not on the computer.

This isn't a wide commercial release, so the title would give no help. It's a short run production I want to back up.

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    TIA

You can try turning Pathplayer off in Fab settings and try again.Make sure you turn it back to always enable when done. You should always include the internal log and(vso burn log or img burn log for dvd) if a burning to disk problem.Logs should be included with any problem on Fab so if this don't work then please do so as it's possible the copy protection is not supported yet.Learn how to post your logs in my link below.

if disabling pathplayer does not work for this dvd, you might try clone mode and
          see if that works.

Did you try turning pathfinder off? If you did and it didn't work you could try version 8 of Fab.

Thanks. Trying that now. It certainly did something. It's taking forever (5+ hours now).

Should I give up, or is there hope?

                Thanks,

                  Hi Gcason
Make sure that you view the content before burning to disc with path player disabled, it my give undesirable results.

If all else fails, try version 8 found here http://www.dvdfab.com/download.htm

It's strange that your log shows that there is no copyright in the disc.

Thanks. I'll be trying version 8 soon, I think.

Other fun facts about this DVD:
                    • Plays in a DVD player, but not on the computer DVD drive. The intro plays, but the main menu doesn't work.
                    • Properties shows the DVD has 31.5 gigs of files on it
                    • The disk looks funky. Usually, the burn area is all in one place. On this disk, it's all over the place. There are concentric rings of burned areas.

Version 8 didn't work. Are there any other suggestions?

Yup, october262 is spot on. Your best bet is clone mode for this disc.
The authoring is often atypical with these types of dvds.

If clone mode fails, you may have better luck with an older version of Fab such as v.4120.
If you're interested, drop me a pm with your email and I'll hook you up.

Another possibility is to use one of the old, retired copy programs such as dvd decrypter or shrink.

You may also try an older version of 8, 8085 you can find it here http://www.oldapps.com/dvdfab.php
