In the last 2 days I have started to get the error message "media inserted is single density. Please insert double density media." when trying to copy. I am burning single density discs, I have checked the drop down box, and DVD5 is checked. An old version of DVD shrink burns a folder of the DVD fine. System restore has not helped. Anyone know what's up?

Hi The Cod and welcome,
Tough to say for sure based on your post, but I suspect this may be a problem with VSO the default burn engine.
Please look at the files ripped to your hdd and check the file size.
I think the easiest thing to do is to switch to Img....a more reliable and configurable burn app.
Here's a download link and an excellent video tutorial on how to set up Img and Fab:

A-Ha! This solved it! I was trying to eek out a little more burn data. When I was copying a smaller-sized DVD I would not get this message, but with anything compressed, I got this. I've reset to 4300. Thanks all.

Glad to hear you're up and running smoothly again.
You said the "shrink" discs burned and played ok.
Curious if you modified the compression settings in shrink? Many of us have longed for this option (customized compression) in Fab...for what seems like forever,
might be time to bring this up again.
Still, with good quality media, you should be able to squeeze a bit more out out of your media with Fab and without problems.
I use 4460 MB as my default setting and burn to YUDEN000 T02 and an occasional MCC 004.
Never had a problem with this error...If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
