got a new computer, problem burning DL disk

It always fails just after the write speed passes 4x, I tried to set the write speed to 2.4x but that does not work, it still goes past that.

It rips the disk at up to 8x, but will not write DL+R past 4x. Writing standard +R goes up to 8x perfectly.

Maybe setting the write speed does not work?

    John

I see you are using dl DVD+r and DVD+r your disc's are not very good try using verbatim. Also when burning always burn at half your disc's max speed. You should also burn with image burn it can be found under third party products, and a tutorial on how to set it up ,hope this helps.
Even if it's a little thing, do something for those who have need of help, something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it.

Good advice from this member. Riteks aren't the worst on the market, and they aren't the best, either...

Also, with the cost of DVD writers being so low, I'd seriously consider dumping that Lite-On iHAS124 (which I've read is nothing more than a re-branded Optiarc drive) for something better.

Sony, Pioneer, LG...there's lots to choose from.

just finished burning another and here is the log

tried first to +R, then DL+R, both worked

I set the speed to burn at 2.0x (11080)

              +R burned at max 2.1x, DL+R burned at max 5.2x (7/sec)

think the speed calcs are off somewhere

I NEVER had any problems burning on the other PC, it could be the cheap drive that was installed.
