When you have selected the title, click the subtitle dropdown dialog and click in the subtitle you want.

      Hi
I checked and it is EN EN under subtitles
This is a hard one for me because it is on the computer with subtitles, but it
      won't copy to disc

You may just need to turn them on in the player, they may not be on by default.

If you want the subs to play by default click in this area and get the black arrowhead pointing to the subtitle you want to play.

You can or just leave them both checked and select the sub you want with the player or set top remote.

If you're playing the disc in a set top player there should be a menu to access if not a "subs" button on the remote control to select the subtitle.

do you know of a way to avoid this problem in the future?

What exactly is the problem? Is there some other language you want or what?
