10.0.1.2 - not surprisingly, won't start up/run!

Well, did a fresh clean install of latest official 10.0.1.2 - and again, will not start up or run at all..

Win7 64bit Pro..

All latest Microsoft "important" updates

fully uninstalled previous dvdfab version..

cleaned registry..

rebooted..

installed new fab 10012 as admin

launched fab 10012 as admin..

no good.. same error as I've been getting on every version after 9312.. Windows error..

I have tried running it in all "compatibility mode" settings.. no good, same problem..

ran it as admin, with Security Essentials disabled.. no good, same problem..

The last version of dvdfab that runs perfectly fine is 9.3.1.2 - I reinstalled that version, and no problems or errors at all.. it runs perfectly fine..

any new version from 9316 and newer, all have this same error and will not start up or run at all.. no matter how I try to run them..

Nothing on my PC has changed, except for latest microsoft windows updates - "important updates only"... so only important and security updates have been done to my pc..

again, 9312 works flawlessly.. any newer version since then, no good... so something was changed even between 9312 and 9316 that caused this issue...

And when I try to run anything newer, the program doesn't generate any log at all.. it does not startup/run at all so never gets to a running point to where it could generate a log.. so, there are no logs I can give you, it doesn't create any.

the only error log info I have is what I had posted before - the Windows Errorlog Report is attached...

does dvdfab run in safe mode ??
and are your graphics card drivers up to date.

might also try installing dvdfab into a different folder, see if this works.

uninstalled current nvidia drivers, rebooted.. did a clean install of latest/newest nvidia drivers.. rebooted...

tried to run dvdfab 10 as admin, no good.. same damn error..

rebooted into safe mode with network support, and it started up!

Have not tried copying anything yet, so not sure if there are any issues with that or not, but at least it did start up to program interface...

HOWEVER, I shouldn't have to go into safe mode every time to be able to run the damn program..

So what's the issue here??

as usual, when it gives me the windows error and shuts down, it doesn't generate anything in the log file, so no idea what it's issue is, because it doesn't get far enough at all to even generate log data..

You tried adding dvdfab to the data execution prevention ??
Hit start - my computer - right click - properties - advanced -
Performance then data execution prevention.

tried.. can't do it.. it won't let me.. windows says "this program must be run with DEP enabled. You can not turn off DEP for this program"

I have attached the logs from when it did startup in safe mode.. but I'm sure that won't tell us anything about why it won't run in normal mode...

Something you can try if you want, run task manager and click the startup tab, disable everything reboot and see if it will run. If it does it is a software conflict that loads on startup, if it still won't run it is a system issue. If it runs with a clean startup you can go back and enable one at a time until you find the conflict.

With windows 7 you may have to run "msconfig.exe" to disable startup programs?

Forgot to even think about doing that!

Yes, I ran msconfig and I disabled all startup apps.. rebooted... that didn't work.. still wouldn't start up and I got the same windows error..

so, then I moved to the msconfig Services tab section.. and disabled my HitmanPro services.. rebooted.. and VOILA!! It worked!

Didn't think about that app/service, because I've had it for 2 years and every other previous version of dvdfab always worked fine with no problems! uugghh..

So as a final test, I re-enabled everything in Start Up.. and I only disabled the HitmanPro services and rebooted, and dvdfab starts up and runs fine! Whew!

Now, just gotta figure out why it wouldn't copy my Draft Day dvd, heh.. got to 68% and then got an error that it could not read it..

anyway, it's starting up and working now at this point.. (hopefully draft day is a fluke as to its error copying and other dvd's will still work fine.)

added the dvdfab exe files to the exclusion list in HitManPro, and dvdfab now starts up and runs just fine, and I don't have to disable any services, etc.. woohoo!

I haven't been able to get 10 to come up either, but I have not gone to the detail that our friend has.... as long as 9 works which it does flawlessly I haven't concerned myself..
