BLU-RAY to HD, Quality?

I am ripping all favorite DVD's to a hard drive and playing back on the Seegate FreeAgent+ and they play great on my system.

Question: Can I do that with my new Blu Ray movies? Will the quality be as good? Has anybody done that yet?

There's a lot of information that should have been included with this question, but let me try to answer it this way:

IF you rip the BD discs with little or no compression... IF your media device has the codecs to handle the BD decription for playback... IF you have a High-Def TV to fully display the BD movies...the reproduction of the data should give you equivalent picture and sound to the original BD discs themselves, as they played on your system.
