ripped dvds not working correctly within windows media center 7

I am having some issues with some dvds that I have ripped recently using the latest dvdfab 6.2.1.8 I think this issue may have been with a few other recent builds. For some reason when using windows media center 7 I am getting an error saying this dvd cannot play and please restart WMC. Except they never play. Certain dvds play fine some dont and I dont know why. I have seen other users say they had this issue and they were usind dvdfab as well. I dont think its a codec issue since the codecs needed should already be there. I cant find anything wrong with WMC either.

    Maybe its my settings?

    I always have pathplayer enabled.
    PGCs always removed.
    Always jump to first menu.
I generally try to check included non dvd files although I dont know what that means. I assumed it was with interactive dvds and I want to keep as much of the original dvd intact.
I also keep the menus and extras.
I only rip the full dvd and do not compress.

This is on an HTPC. I just cant narrow this down so I thought I would come here and ask.

    Thanks

I think to get these disks working correctly in WMC, you need to NOT remove PGC's & Jump to main menu.

Test it with one and let us know the results.

I think I wasnt clear enough. I actually ripped my entire collection (1500+ dvds) using those same exact settings but it has taken many months to rip them all about 6 months total so thats why sometimes the version has changed. But 90% of them work correctly and they all use those same settings. Thats why its so strange. Like I ripped 4 eddie izzard dvds and one works perfectly the other 3 dont work. I am so baffled. It actually seems to affect the standup dvds I have more than anything else for some reason which I am sure is just coincidence.

I suspect it is tied in with the authoring of such DVD's and the way the PGC's are structured.

That's why I asked you to try one of the "Problem Children" without those options to see whether we can isolate where the problem is.

        Capisce?

Sure I can do that. I was trying to start some experiments to narrow it down.

I dont know if I said this earlier but they do play 100% perfectly using windows media player. When you click on a vob file they go right to the main menu and the menus work perfect. Its just from within WMC they dont work.

You shouldn't play using the VOB's. The IFO's also contain important information about audio streams, subtitles and navigation. You should always "Play from Folder" and I am pretty sure there is a way to set up WMC to do this but that is not a subject for discussion on this forum.

To illustrate what I mean download VLC Player (www.videolan.org) and "Play from Folder".

That is what you want to achieve.
