      Yes you can.
As long as you own both computers and you agree not to use Fab in both simultaneously, you're all set.
Your regkey will work just fine.

As W&B pointed out, your slimline Pioneer leaves much to be desired.
Your burner, which is capable of writng dvd -R/+R at 8X has crapped out with this media.
It's trying to write at 2.3X which is way too slow for this media which is rated up to 16X.
      BTW, this is crappy media
      Hence the error:

      E 11:25:09 Failed to Read Sector 0 - Reason: L-EC Uncorrectable Error

I would definitely pick up some decent media.
Verbatims can be had almost anywhere...the usual brick & mortar stores and online.

I would also strongly suggest that you install Fab on your desktop and avoid trying to do any video archiving with the Pioneer.

      Regardless, pick up some Verbatims
You're not going to get this to work with the Pioneer and Ritek F-16 crapolla.
There's no good reason to pull out more of your hair.

Maineman am I wrong in saying for merkle to burn at 4x as in the log files this is posted Source Media Type: DVD+R (Speeds: 1x, 2x, 2.4x, 3.3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x) or is this what the drive is capable of burning at? Merkle if I have given you the wrong info I am sorry.

RITEK-F16-01, the F stands for a Fuji proprietary dye. Some drives have trouble with it. RITEK-P16-01 and Verbatim and TY has the AZO dye and is widely usable especially by these slim drives Probably why it is only seeing 2.4X write speed. Need different blank media.
How to post the internal log

No, I believe you gave solid advice by telling him to try 4X for a burn speed.
It's 1/2 the max speed of his burner since it tops out at 8X anyway.

As you know there's a huge difference between what manufacturers say is supported and what really works...at least for most users.
In fairness to the manufacturers, there is huge variability out there.
These Riteks have a write strategy of 2X-16X.
Look at Verbatim MCC 004...they support 1X-16X.
Know anybody that gets good burns at 1X with these verbies?

Bottom line, like both 90312 and I said, this media and his burner just aren't compatible. Maybe there's a firmware upgrade that will help, I haven't looked.
However, slimlines are still slimlines and still exposed to a lot of heat

I say go with the desktop and some verbs or TY's...usually a winning combo.

I have an external LG DVD Drive similar to this one http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+20x...&skuId=9540641 works great but you could probably find it cheaper at newegg or tigerdirect as Best Buy is a little over priced

Hopefully some folks with externals will pop in and make some recommendations.
You can also put an internal burner in an external enclosure.
The cost is probably pretty close by the time you're actually hooked up and running.

The advantage to internal is that you have a lot more to choose from.
The advantage to an external burner...just plug it in and you're all set.
No matching interfaces and installing the burner.
It's no big deal, but there it is.

If you're in the U.S., I'd look at

I have two of these, the first one I bought is a full sized drive like AGJ recommends then Samsung came out with a slim drive that only needs the USB connection and I can use it on the go. It works fine and is away from all the heat of the CPU, seems like a good one. Heck of a drain on the battery though. I think the full size drive is stronger but requires 110v and an adapter, not as handy.

I get this problem when using TDK branded DVD blanks, the write process comes up as 'succesful', but the backup DVD's will not play in recent Sony
DVD, Sony Bluray, or Panasonic DVD player, and I have tried them in friends players of other brand, model to rule out playback Hardware as the issue.
This happens on ALL DVD backups.

The DVDFAB Write mechanism appears sensitive to the Media type and brand,
all other factors, PC, O/S, Writer drive are the same in both cases. I can copy unprotected DVD's to TDK disks and they play back just fine, which appears to rule out the Pioneer DVD Writer, which has run successfully with a paid version of DVDFAB for a few years now.
