Can't get subtitles on my Samsung Series 8 TV

I'm hoping someone here can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I used to be able to get subtitles when burning to a usb hard drive for my TV, but they have stopped working on my new burns. I can still see subtitles on some old burns, and I can see the subtitles on my new burns on my computer with VLC.

Any ideas? Help an old guy who needs subtitles please.

    Thanks in advance for assistance.

Ray, you can select direct render to video. You won't be able to turn them off but they will be there as part of the video stream. Attached: Click image for larger version

Thanks, but I'm doing DVD Copy. I'm not making a MP4. Is this still applicable? If so, where do I find it?

      Thanks again, Ray

No, but you can try checking the subtitle you want and click in the space next to it and get the arrowhead (circled in yellow) that will make it play by default. Click image for larger version

          Thanks! I'll try that.

It didn't work. I read this about Samsung TVs though.

"Always make sure it's a srt subtitle not psg because new 4k samsung tvs do not read psg subtitles .just name the srt subtitle exactly the same as the movie and I mean exactly the same"

            Maybe something?

I'd try an MP4 and export the subtitles they will be .srt. Your TV will likely play them. Put the .srt sub in the same folder as the MP4. Use High quality and you'll like it!

So tonight, three quarters of the way through the movie, the subtitles came on! Really weird! I have no idea what to do.
