For some reason your drive doesn't like this media, I would try to install ImgBurn to rule out the VSO engine having problems (and it does for lots of users) OR get some better quality media such as Verbatim.

Might be early signs of a dying drive also.

Lower the write speed to half the rated speed, click the ImgBurn link in my sig to see how to configure the aws (automatic write speed) per media id, follow Troy512's video tutorial by clicking the first link in his post.

Also the blank media you're using is not the best, try Verbatim or Tayio Yuden.

Is there a way then, to copy main movie only and not lose the English subs during foreign language parts? I'd like to be able to play this on my WDTV but this is causing some issues. Playing this on my DVD player (had to pull it out of the box where I store it because I rarely use it anymore) I get the English translations only when I turn the subs off....kinda weird to me. If there's a way to do this or anyone can offer some insight, that'd be appreciated. Thanks.

Sure can, rip main movie only and include the first english subtitle track (usually the first track contains the forced subs). Then convert to a mobile format selecting "display forced subtitles only", either avi or mkv work great with the WDTV. here is a guide for mobile conversion thanks to GregiBoy Best Practice: DVD to Mobile

I'm not sure you understand what I'm saying so I'm sorry I'm not clear enough...let me give it another try. The forced subtitles are not showing up on my list of subtitles in dvdfab. The list is English, French, French, English, English. The english 1 shows nothing, haven't tried the french, english 2 shows all languages in yellow, english 3 shows all language in white. Am I the only one seeing this or is it common for this DVD. The only way I can get the forced subs (which are not listed in dvdfab) is with a dvd player by having subs set to none. Thanks.

Not sure of the problem, I did what I suggested and converted to mkv format and they work great for 2012.
Have you tried a conversion yet or is this just using the preview window?

Edit: I forgot to mention you have to select "render to video" not the idx/sub option in the conversion settings...

Forced subtitles can be contained in another suppicture stream and do not necessarily show up in the list.

Have you selected the first english stream, turned forced subtitles on and used the preview window to skip to a time in the movie when you know that they occur?

I've traditionally stuck with .iso because they're convenient, lossless, and work well with my WDTV player. It seems that 2012 has only 1 video track over 5 minutes so I'm pretty sure that forced subs are not in another video stream. I just threw a copy of the 'full disc' on my player and I can choose from the different subs (much like my dvd player) but none of the subs are what I'm looking for. Like I said, with the DVD player, I only get these forced subs when I choose no subs.

My post about which subs where showing which text was wrong. The 1st English shows all speech in yellow, the 2nd English shows all speech in white, and the 3rd English shows the commentary subtitles. W&B, are you able to see subtitles for only the foreign parts in the preview window? I don't understand why the first subtitles track for me is all the speech and for you it's only the foreign parts. Am I understanding correctly?

The reason why WDTV won't show the forced subs from an iso is because it doesn't support DVD format, you have to select the subtitle track via the WDTV menu and that will show all subs.
Yeah, forced subs show only by converting as suggested.

But there isn't a subtitle track I can select that has just the foreign speaking parts. That's what I'm saying. Are you seeing a track that I'm not?

Nope it's the first english track. Be sure to place a tick beside "display forced subtitles only", Fab will recognize the 'flags' for the forced subs within the video stream and then burn them directly to video. Be sure to select "render to video" and not the 'idx/sub' option in the conversion settings also.
