So, the slower I write the disc the better the quality? Thus if I set it to like, 1x, it will be excellent quality?

No, slower is not always better.

As has been said many times before, a good rule of thumb is burn at half the rated speed of the blank media,

Alright I got it set up right. *Whips sweat from forehead.* It actually burns much quicker than it did before, though it is set to burn at 4x. I'll post my ImgBurn log as soon as it's finished. Also note that I saved the files to my Desktop not my ExHDD. What would I set my write speed for a 2.4x 8.5GB disc?

That looks right to me Jason, you seem to be writing at 4x to 8x media.

Perhaps one of the other old-timers can confirm?

Uhg...It shakes slightly, not as bad as before but now the quality is horrible again. Whereas before the quality was fine, but the shakiness was horrible. I have another idea to try. I figure since normal DVDs work perfectly fine with absolutely no problems and Series DVD's do not I would analyze the differences. Here is what I've got, normal DVD's are about 1/2 the size of episodal DVDs so I'm gonna rip it to burn to a DVD9 8.5GB and see if that fixes things. I believe my issues are I am compressing it too much. So...How do I set ImgBurn to deal with 8.5GB 2.4x DVD+R (DVD9)?

P.S. I really do not wish to loose my current settings for 4.7GB 8x DVD+R (DVD5)

sageraziel your logs look good but I still see that Fat32. I would do some research on how to format that external drive to NTSC so that you can use it along with your computer, it shouldn't be that hard. Also just review the tutorial about putting the disc in your drive and add the new media with the write speed you want to the list.

I'm gonna disconnect the ExHDD for this next one I suppose. By the way, is it appearing in my rip log, or my burn log? I need to fix where ever the error is.

Ther never was and never will be a burner that can burn at 1X.

Correction I have a $650.00 Sony RDR-GX7 DVD recorder/player that will only burn 1x disc's, but I never even burned 1 movie with it.

So the first time I set it up it asked me for a break thingy or something, and it gave my about six choices. I selected the green star, and was done. Then remembered that I had forgotten to set the Write Speed to 2x. So I canceled and fixed the write speed from 4x to 2x. Then when I started it I only had three stars to choose from, one still being green. I chose the green star of course, but why were there less options the second time?

A dual layer disk plays the first layer from the inside out and the second layer from the outside in. At some point the laser must stop and change directions, (the layer break). ImgBurn will attempt to find the least obtrusive place, like a fade to black or between scenes. It could be that burning slower it found fewer but better spots to place the layer break?
