    Double Layer problem

I tried to copy 2 of my DVD's for our minivan trips and after I copied them( UP and ICE AGE Dawn of the Dinosaurs) I played the two dvd's on my home theatre system and both of them froze in the middle of the movie. I played them on another player and the same occured. I used double layer disks, Ridata brand -R DL 4x. I used the latest version of DVD Fab and used LG burner which handles DL disks. Can anyone help why my copies are not playing back correctly
    Thanks

Poor quality blank media or burning too fast.

    Please supply the burn logs.

Probably the result of marginal/crappy media. What you describe is most likely an issue with the layer break, frequently seen with poor quality media.

The only consistently recommended DL media is Verbatim +R DL.
The minivan dvd players are known to be a bit more finicky as well.

Please try to purchase the verbs made in Singapore (MIS) as opposed to made in India (MIS).

I just saw a 50 pk spindle in Sam's Club for about $43.
The MID is MKM 001 (2.4-4X)
The 8-10X MID is MKM 003.

If you post a burn log, we can give you more specific help.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Sorry, forgot to post the file path for the burn log:

        The default location is:
        C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log

          burn speed, brand quality

Can I burn at a slower speed? Is Ridata brand a descent brand?

Ridata is CRAP.... Set your burning speed in the settings of Fab at half the rated speed of the media.

Aside from the quality problems that you'll see with a brand like Ridata, your other big problem is trying to use -R format for a Dual Layer burn.

For all intents and purposes, DL -R format cannot do video burns. Only use DL +R format, as the layer break on +R is software set-able.

As has been echoed here many times in many different threads, Verbatim DL +R (Singapore made, by choice) is the ONLY brand to use for DL burns.

Click on the green check mark at the top of the Fab window.

Then about 1/3 of the way down on the left list you'll see:
                  DVD / Blu-Ray
                  L Write

Change to 1/2 the speed of the media you bought to be conservative with non-top tier media.
