dvdfab keeps asking for dl disk

ok I've been checking the threads and I see now answers accept to download imageburn instaed of usein the vso burner that has had no problem for me until I just updated to the dec release. I'm a registered owner for a few years and have been very happy til now Everything goes as I want it and just coping the main movie stick in my sony disk that i have had very very few probs with and get the msg that it is a single layer disk and to put a dual layer disk in, and it is set for dvd5 since thats all I can afford. Am I going have to uninstall the latest version and reinstall the older ver to get it to work with out having to download a new program?

When you have it set for DVD5 for Single Layer discs, what does the quality box show as the size (in MB) for that setting?

it varies as to the length of movie the longer the movie the less the number but most times I have 100% which means no compression! but on the movie I was archiving I believe it was at 97% I have never had any issues with the quality section, just buy'n some cheap low quality disks but I get the sony disks and out of a few hundred disks had on like maybe 4 bad disks.

DC is not asking about the quality percentage.
He wants to know the size in MBs.
        4300 MBs or ????

ok my stepson borrowed the movie but the file folder on the hard drive is 4.93gb i believe it was going to be 97 % uncompressed which i've had movies with more compression

            Change your setting to 4300.
The setting you are using will not fit on a SL disc that is why it ask for a DL.

try changing to 4472 as that what I use for my setting and never have issue but usually cheap media will sometimes tell yuo to insert DL and you say out of a few 100 discs you only had 4 bad. I have been using Taiyo Yuden and have not had any bad discs out of over 1000. Once you Sony are gone I would invest in some verbatim and they can be found for sale at like Best Buy, Office Max and online at newegg and most of the time they on sale as well and much better than sony. But experiment with a setting between 4482 to 4300 to see what will work for this movie and the blank media you are using for it

oopss typo sorry its 4472 like you suggested and has been there for long time. I have never had it ask for a dual layer disk ever! even when I used cheap staples brand disks! lots of bad disks there I've been using that setting since probably ver 5 or before don't remember when I 1st paid for dvdfab

You state your folder reads 4.93Gb. That will not fit on a SL disc regardless of what you have done in the past.

Change your setting or not is your choice .

Your logs says your folder is 4.93gb.
As stated before this will not fit on an SL disc no matter how many times you try.

Process the movie again with a lower setting if you have not already done so.
Your post of "It did not work" does not tell us anything of what you have or have not done.

I have nothing further to suggest.

Just one more comment from me... LOSE THOSE DRIVES!!!

One comment I read while researching your drives was that the DVDRW IDE 16X A091 should be bronzed, it's so old...(it's an old Emprex)

And your other drive, the CDWRITER IDE5224 S028... I couldn't even find that much on it... still not sure who made it...

For about $50-$60 U.S., if you shop for a deal, you should be able to replace both drives.

The only way you'll solve your size problem is by experimenting with different DVD5 sizes, and going with the one that works in most cases... but 4.93 GB IS too large for a SL disc.
