    IS/O errors... Finalize disc errors

Can someone please take a look at my burn log and tell me whats going on?
Is my drive starting to fail?
Did I unknowingly click a button?
I did try to play with the pathplayer/finder..whatever... when I could not get the tv series "Las Vegas" to rip. I finally just gave up trying....
This is when all my troubles began.
I am currently trying to back up "He's just not that into you"
(I am a paid user, been using Fab/img burn for years and just love 'em! I get these errors when I try to use DVDfab and image burn together and separately)

    I 16:14:37 Write Speed: MAX

Two problems here that I can see... first, the media... spend a buck or two extra, and get yourself a good media for video work, such as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim... and you'll avoid a lot of coasters, which drive up the cost of your blanks (the more that become coasters, the more that each one left really costs you... and only if they work...).

Second...the write speed should be set for the media you're using, rather than left on Max... there's a tutorial in the forum here for setting that up...

      Thanks..
Verbatium is a great product, but I find that these disc's work just fine on my puter...
I tried slowing the burn speed down to 5x and still got the errors.
Figured it was a bad blank disc...nada...
Reset the burn speeds according to directions and still fails...

I messed something up fiddling around with "Las Vegas"...I just don't know what...

      Thanks again.

OK...again, two problems... First - though the discs may seem to work fine on your computer as soon as they're done, I'm also pretty sure you'd like to enjoy those same disks 6 mos. or a year down the road... with the cheap emulsions being used on some of these media, they start deteriorating quickly, and you may find severe picture and audio degradation after only 6 months...

Second, a disc that has a rated speed of 2.4X can't be slowed down... that's the slowest most modern burners can go (sorry, I just don't believe that 5X statement you made...).

To return to a new start position, re-set Fab and Imgburn to default settings...set Fab for whatever size you want (DVD5 or DVD9), do a rip, then check the result with VLC to make sure it's OK.

On Imgburn, just set up as per tutorial in this forum EXCEPT for the burn speed, then burn your computer files with Imgburn as a stand-alone, and manually set the speed to 2.4X (if you plan on using the rest of the disks you have), and let us know the result.

These must be really cheap DVD+R blank media if the only burn speed available is 2.4x get some better media and try with them as the ones you have are just junk sorry to say

            Ugh....
This burn media works just fine. Memorex DVD+R 16x 4.7GB 120 min. I have MASH episodes/Golden Girls episodes/House MD episodes on them that have been played over and over and over again...they're fine.
Been using them for years! 50 out of a this stack of 100 burned just fine.
Not gonna argue anymore about them.

As for setting up the burn speed. believe me or not, I DID reset everything to 5x.....WORKED WITH TWISTER!!!!!! BUT I see I'm an idiot.....ok.....whatever....

Just grabbed my old original disc "Twister" and fab/img worked just fine.

It's either the encryption, or just a bad original disc.......probably a bad org. disc.
            Who knows....
Off to try "My Sister's Keeper".....

Well according to the log you only have an available write speed of 2.4x for that media so if you think this media is fine give the VSO burn engin a try instead of ImgBurn or try Nero as it seems ImgBurn does not like this media

The problem with cheap media is that is often inconsistent. What worked at the beginning of the spindle may not throughout. You might try skipping to near the end of the pile to see if it is just a bad set of discs.

Also, the posters attempting to help you have experience on many thousands of discs of various types as well as many different optical drives. They aren't arguing with you; they are trying to share their expertise.
