Avatar audio problem

I see a lot of posts that AVATAR has no protection and that it copies easily. Makes me wonder what I am doing wrong. It SEEMS like its doing well but when I play it back, about 1/2 way through the movie the sound suddenly switches to background music and the voices go very, very soft - almost inaudible. Tried changing the audio settings both in DVDFAB and on my DVD player. No matter the audio setting, it keeps happening starting when the guy goes to the chief to explain whats happening.
