      i tried backing up old copy of casino and it says same thing dual layer etc... is the free version no longer working?

        The freeware version will not compress...period, so if the file size is larger than SL capacity (4472 MB max), you're skunked

            It will copy but only to a dual layer disk, no compression and there is absolutely no chance of the FREE version supporting compression.

              It will copy/rip to a hard drive only.
              Not to a disc either double or single layer.

                i see so i now have to use dual layer discs?mant thanks for the help. i tried this with a recent movie to record on a single layer [90 minutes long] and it said to use dual layer disc, does that mean that recent movies will record if i use dual layer? again many thanks for the help.

                  you can use DVD Shrink after you rip it to the HD to shrink it down to fit on a SL disc also
