First ..
The media you are using is 16X but your drive is only seeing it as 8X max. So maybe a problem with your drive?
Available write speed: 8x ,6x ,4x ,2.4x
2010-05-23 19:51:23 Info Media ID: CMC MAG-M01-00
2010-05-23 19:51:23 Info Media type: DVD+R
Second..
Your drive is in PIO mode instead of DMA.
2010-05-23 19:51:23 Info PIO Mode
Third..
Are you using a laptop?

Cool, thanks for helping to interpret the logs. What should I do from here? I am using a laptop. Is that problematic? Anything I can do to correct the 16x error or set dvd fab to burn at 8x? Should I change from PIO to DMA? How would I do that, and is there any reason I might not want to? Thanks again.

The PIO mode is one of the reasons you are taking so long to burn.
DMA mode should not take more than 6 to 12 minutes to burn a disc.
Open DVDFAB.
Click on the green circle in the top right of the screen.
Click on General and look at the lower right and you should see the text...Check DMA Now ...
Do it........
My opinion is that you will continue to have problems trying to burn with a laptop slimline drive.

As for media quality, is there a brand or speed that's higher quality?
