    Dvd ripping very slow.

    Hi all.

recently I bought a pc custom built from a computer place in brisbane, Australia.
the pc has the following specifications, I dont know much about what each mean.

    System Information
    ------------------
Time of this report: 5/29/2010, 19:37:01
    Machine name: USER-PC
    Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.100226-1909)
    Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
    System Model: GA-MA785GMT-UD2H
    BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
    Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 245 Processor (2 CPUs), ~2.9GHz
    Memory: 2048MB RAM
    Available OS Memory: 1790MB RAM
Page File: 1647MB used, 1933MB available
    Windows Dir: C:\Windows
    DirectX Version: DirectX 11
    DX Setup Parameters: Not found
User DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)
System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)
    DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled
    DxDiag Version: 6.01.7600.16385 64bit Unicode

As you can see it is 64 bit. with windows 7.
My previous pc was 32 bit. I've always used dvd fab to rip and encode movies. on my old pc it used to take roughly 8 minutes to rip a dvd to desktop.
Currently it takes about 20 minutes.
It starts off very slow, and the mbps rises very slow. It eventually (After 5-10 minutes) gets up to maximum speed (6-9 mbps)

On the old pc it used to get up to maximum rip speed alot faster.
I've also tried dvd shrink and it takes along time aswell, It never did before.

Do all programs run slow on 64 bit machines or is my pc faulty?

    Thankyou very much

First: try to reset DMA in Settings ->General
Second: Roll back DirectX from 11 back to 10

      Hi.

I did the first option with no sucess, and am unsure on how to do the second option.

I just looked up my burner and its max speed is 24x. Could that be why? What is the average speed for a burner?

      thankyou all.

Post a burn log, your dvd drive may be riplocked, knowing the exact model and seeing a burn log would very helpful.

          Hi.

I am ripping a new dvd to get the log for you. How do I find out the burner brand and model?
All it says on the front is - Rw, Dvd multi recoder, Compact disk.
I went to dxdiag and it says ---
          rive: D:
Model: ATAPI iHAS324 Y ATA Device
          Driver: c:\windows\system32\drivers\cdrom.sys, 6.01.7600.16385 (English), 7/14/2009 09:19:54, 147456 bytes

It should be in the log when you post it.
