media not detected error, but its writing to the disc

I recently ran out of blanks, so I'd been saving some movies to my hdd.

Finally went out and picked up some Verbatims, but the first 2 burns I tried resulted in errors.

I kept getting a no media detected error, sticking the disc back in didn't help. Tried this a couple times. Now, my pc thinks that both of those discs I tried have already been written to...if you look at the disc, you can see a very very small 'write' wring on the disc, even tho dvdfab kept telling me to insert compatible media.

Sorry to be non descriptive, but my errors kind of varied a bit...it usually kept giving me the no media detected error...then one time I got some strange error about the file I was copying wasn't formatted properly (which was a typical ISO file done in the exact same way I've done hundreds of others)...then I'd end up with the 'not empty' thing.

Definitely a bit confused...the only difference this time is that I actually got some verbatim discs instead of the usual sony or memorex that I used to buy.

I'm a bit worried to continue troubleshooting, as these damn verbatims were 2 bucks a pop.

Any clue how I could be writing stuff to the disc when dvdfab keeps telling me there was no media detected?

I checked my logs, but there isn't much there. My dvdfab process log hasn't changed since 5/19 for some reason, and all thats in my dvdfab_burn_vso log (even tho I'm using imgburn) is this:

Imgburn also saves a burn log . Can you post here?

Of course, I ran out of patience (even tho you replied here within minutes) and tried to burn another iso...it seemed to work fine.

Here is my imgburn log. The most recent one that failed was the 'bad lieutenant' one in the log. I originally tried it from an existing file, then I just re-did the entire thing thru dvdfab and told it to burn it directly.

      Thanks for the quick response.

Couldn't post my entire log due to the size, so I just did a copy/paste of the last 2 burns. (the most recent one, pirate of the carribean which worked, and the most recent failed one, bad lieutenant, which failed, but resulted in my 2 discs having stuff written to them even tho dvdfab/imgburn never said they even got that far)

Your drive is in PIO mode Open Fab Click the Little green check top right > general click Reset DMA and also make sure check for Dma is checked and restart Fab
Also you should be using the latest version you will find it here http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=5851
Instead of clicking run click save then open the folder and right click and install the program as administrator
Give it a try and post back.

Even if it's a little thing, do something for those who have need of help, something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it.
