Not detecting any of my DVD-Rs

    Not detecting any of my DVD-Rs

    Ok, couple of nights ago I tried burning with a Memorex DVD-R and it kept saying "No detectable media, please insert writeable disc." I usually use Sony DVD-Rs with no problem, but I ran out. I tried 2 or 3 of those discs until I used a HP lightscribe DVD-R I had and it worked.

    So I bought some Sony DVD-Rs today, and it's saying the same thing. Don't know what I did wrong, need to upgrade, or if I changed anything I wasn't supposed too by accident.

      DVD-R is not listed as compatible.
      I do not remember seeing this before.

      edit to add your drive seems to be in PIO m

        Thanks for noticing the DVD-R/DVD+R. Thats prolly it. I downloaded the latest version too.

          As Gruñón noted your drive is in PIO mode, Open Fab Click the Green √ top right > General > make sure Check for DMA Automatically is Checked and also Click the Reset DMA to the right and restart.
          Also you drive has a firmware update you will find it here
          NOTE: If you do not know how to flash your drive do not flash it , it will render your drive useless
