No, no reason at all, just asking. That's all. I only used the CMC MAG for testing purposes only. I do have Verbatim DVD-R and Taiyo Yuden DVD-R media, in which I will use in the next test I am about to perform. I will keep you posted. Later...c0afanh.

Your media code CMC MAG. AE1 has more than one type of disc and are as different as night and day when archiving video dvds.
Bottom line, you never know what you're going to get re: quality.
Most of us give CMC a very wide berth.

Please pick up some Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media. You can find verbs online and in many brick & mortar stores whereas the TY's are available only online.

I am aware that you have had success with this media and with other software and this media, nevertheless, please switch your blank media.

Does this new bkup you just created play ok in your standalone player?

You also may benefit from reducing your burn speed to 4X with this media and give it another shot with Fab using Img as the default burn engine.

Let us know how both these discs play.

Thanks for getting back to me as fast as you did. The media I used was made by CMC Magnetics Corp., according to this Disc ID: CMC MAG. AE1 and it was only for a test, in which it failed in my standalone DVD player (the movie I burned with ImgBurn was Shutter Island). I do have Verbatim DVD-R and Taiyo Yuden DVD-R medias. However, when I inserted the same disc into two other standalone DVD players, they worked flawlessly. The quality of the movie was crystal clear, sharp, or perfect. I also put the same disc into two other laptops which both having PowerDVD 7 installed in them and the movie played perfect. No skips, no thing. It played perfect. On the other hand, when I inserted the same disc back into my standalone DVD player, it skipped to the middle of the movie. I am really confused now because I have put 6 other DVD movies that I backed up with DVDFab in my standalone DVD player, and they work perfectly. No skipping, and yes, the picture of the movie is crystal clear. Again, I am really confused. Please tell me what you think about this. Also, I am going to try what you suggested in the post you written to me. I will be doing the same test as mentioned in this message, but this time I will be using a Taiyo Yuden DVD-R blank media. Here is the DVD media information made possible by a program I am using called DVD identifier. Also, when burning a DVD movie onto a DVD-R blank media, do I have to set the book type in ImgBurn before burning it? Please let me know. Thanks again....c0afanh.

Yup, this is a huge problem with a thread of this length...it becomes difficult to follow and thus advise.

I have never seen the likes of this, the burn obviously took place and the OP was able to post part of the log, but states is unable to find any files that show any portion of the actual burn process....

My recommendation is to use Img as a standalone application.
Navigate to a movie folder,
drag it into the Source window of the Img app
and burn the movie.

Then post the burn log.
This log will be a function of Img and Img only.
And yes, we absolutely need the burn log since this is where the problem is.

OK, as you are ripping the DVD's to the hard drive, download and play the rip using VLC Player (It's free). To do this, navigate to the subdirectory that contains the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS directories, highlight & right click on this directory see hoe the actual rip plays.

If it plays OK, then your problem is with your media/burner or Nero.

Thanks for trying to post the info. Unfortunately, most of the info you posted doesn't help or is not related, ie., wrong movie, etc.,...
There is no burn log posted.
All we have is your os, Fab version and the DVD-ROM drive used to rip... certainly not burn.

Do you have PathPlayer set to always enabled?
For most users, this was the problem.

Please post the burn log
Please playback the ripped files from the hdd with a software player such as VLC.
Does the movie play ok? navigation intact?
Is the file size accurate ?

I do have the "PathPlayer" always enabled. For some strange reason, I can't find the burn log file. I did go and look at the the DVDFab log files. The only thing I do see is the dvdfab burn vso text document and the dvdfab internal text document. I did play the ripped files from my Hard Disk Drive with the PowerDVD version 6 software and it played flawlessly. It shows the very beginning of the movie to the end. And yes, the navigation is intact. I really don't know why when I burn the movie onto a blank DVD-R disc and play it on my DVD player, it skips the very beginning and goes straight into the middle of the movie. I also did check all other settings in the DVDFab v7.0.7.0 program and they are also intact and set correctly. I also resetted the DMA (Direct Memory Access) for my DVD burner just in case. Other than that, I really don't know what else to do. Please help. Thanks....c0afanh.

I like to use PowerDVD 7 to play the ripped movie that's in my Hard Disc Drive to make sure it's a good rip. Do you think using PowerDVD 7 is good instead of VLC player? Or do I have to use VLC player to make a proper analysis of all my ripped movies that is in my Hard Disc Drive? Please let me know. Thanks....c0afanh.

If you are doing it the way I have asked have you tried putting your movie in your E: drive and ripping it to your Hdd and then putting your blank media in your E: drive and burning that way???

Also what speed are you burning at?

I always burn at 4x cause I use Verbatim DVD+R and 4x is the slowest compatible speed. Oh and I use DVDFab to rip and ImgBurn on it's own to burn.

I use Verbatim DVD-R and Taiyo Yodan DVD-R media. Which are the top 2 in the market. I burn at 4x or 8x which are both compatible speeds. I too use the latest version of DVDFab to rip but I use the VSO burn engine. I tried using the ImaBurn burn engine, but it don't work. However, I will keep trying to use the ImaBurn burn engine. I am still having a lot of issues using the latest version of DVDFab. I think it's time they come out with a new fixed version of the program. There are a lot of other customers having trouble with the latest version of DVDFab. Again, I really hope they come out with a fixed version very soon. I am glad to hear that the DVDFab program is working fine for you. However, I will continue to conduct more tests as I have previously mentioned.

Well you can always go to Device manager and uninstall the DVD drive and then reboot computer to let windows install again. Then see if DVDFab can actually use it correctly. Not sure if you tried that yet
