Still having trouble coyping Shutter Island

I downloaded the latest version of DVDFab (v7.0.7.5) and still having trouble backing up Shutter Island. It copies successfully, however, when I burn it onto a blank Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R disc and insert it into my DVD player, it skips to the middle of the movie. I used the VSO burn engine and burn it onto a DVD-R disc using Nero 8.

Here is my dvdfab_burn_vso log file.

I will retry copying Shutter Island by changing the burn engine from VSO to ImgBurn in the DVDFab settings. Also, I will use the latest version of the ImgBurn program (v2.5.1.0) to burn onto another Blank Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R disc. Hopefully it will work this time. If not, I will be posting another post of the issues I have been experiencing with DVDFab. In the mean time, I hope I can get any help possible to resolve the issue I am having. Thanks...c0afanh.

Sorry to hear that you're still having the same issues.
I know you said that you cannot find the burn log, but...
if we can't see the burn log and
    we can't reproduce the problem
    how do we help?
    We cannot isolate your problem.

We know that the ripped files are intact.
We know that the files burn correctly and the disc plays as it should when burned with Img as a standalone application.
The problem occurs when Fab is used to burn, with both VSO and Img and now with nero as well.

No one else is posting this issue with Shutter Island
We absolutely have to have details of the burn process.

The fact that the initial part of the log is present (the portion you posted), begs the question...where is the rest of the log?
Did you do this only with nero this time?
    We know the disc burned.
Please try it with Img (yes, I know you did this previously).

I don't know that many of us here are very familiar with the nero burn logs, but something is better than nothing

Please look thoroughly through the entire log.
If you're still unable to find them, please do one of the following:
upload the entire file (you can use a number of free sites) and post the link
    or
email the entire log to me.

I just sent you a pm with my email.

    Please explain.
You either used VSO or Nero, but not both...unless you burned 2 different discs.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Thank you for responding quickly to my post. I am going to burn onto a blank Taiyo Yuden DVD-R media using the latest version of Imgburn (v2.5.1.0) as a standalone. I am hoping this will solve the issue. If it does, I will always use the ImgBurn program to do the rest of my DVD back-ups. If it does not, then I will have to try to find another way of resolving the issue. Either way, I will produce a Imgburn burn log for you to look at. I will send you a PM when I am finished. Once again, thank you for your help.

OK. I copied (Shutter Island) and used the ImgBurn engine in DVDFab (v7.0.7.5) and used a Taiyo Yuden DVD-R media. I also burned it at the speed of 8x. And yes, I am still getting the same result. When I insert the backup copy of Shutter Island in my DVD player, it skips to the middle of the movie. However, when I put it into my other DVD player, it plays perfect from the very beginning to the end. I also put it into 3 other DVD players and it plays perfect. but when I try to use on my friends laptop, the movie skipped to the end. I am really confused on what is really going on. Is my standalone DVD player going bad, or is it the DVDFab program? Anyway, here is my burn log from the latest version of ImgBurn (v2.5.1.0). I try to locate the DVDFab log and the only thing I can find is the dvdfab_burn_vso and internal text documents. Please tell me what you think about this message. As always, thank you for your help.

          This isn't a software issue.
It's not unusual to see variation in playability with burned media, particularly when using 4-5 different pieces of hardware for playback.
There is no one answer for a perfect bkup disc given all the different hardware, firmware, media, burn speeds, etc., etc. that's out there.

First off, do not use max speed...ever.
Burn the TYG02 at 4X. Set the burn speed in Img...you can use Img's Automatic Write Speed so you never have to "set" the speed again.
Img will remember the MID and the burner...it's awesome.

You can also try some +R media. Please use Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.
The best +R media on the planet is YUDEN000 T02...JMO.

You should bitset the +R media as this will maximize playback compatability.
Bitsetting (changing the booktype) essentially fools the player into seeing the +R media as DVD-ROM.

Just keep in mind that there is never a guarantee that any one media will play correctly in all players. This is especially true of some older hardware.
For eg., some players will only play -R while some burners will burn only +R, etc., etc.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

If this is playing in 4 out of 6 players as you indicate, I would be thinking that there is a problem with the two that it does not play on.

This not a DVDFab issue! It an issue with your stand alone DVD player so try cleaning it as that might help. How old is it? is it a Blu-ray player or just DVD player? Your friends laptop drive may need a firmware update or he has virus/malware on his computer. Could you post the make and model # of your stand alone DVD player that has problems playing the back up as well

The reason for the difference of firmware is because it's in a different computer. I have two computers. Sorry for the confusion. I wanted to try my other computer to see if that would solve my problem. Unfortunately, it didn't.

My DVD Player is not a Blu-Ray player. It's a Philips DVP 3150V DVD/VCR Combo Player. As for my friends laptop, I will try to update the firmware on it tomorrow. The make and model of my DVD/VCR player is: Philips DVP 3150V DVD/VCR Combo player as previously mentioned. Is there a why I can update the firmware of my stand one DVD/VCR Player's drive?

No firmware available from Philips for your player...period.
You would have to use a hacked, 3rd party firmware and

1). I don't see that one is available, but I didn't spend much time looking
2). Were you to attempt this, you are absolutely and totally on your own.
If something goes wrong, you will have converted your player to an expensive doorstop...
3). I suspect this will not solve your problem anyway.

Firstly, try what I suggested and reduce the burn speed to 4X
                        You just might get lucky

What happened when you burned the files with Img as a standalone app?

Regardless, try some other blank media
                        Personally, I'd give the YUDEN000 T02's a shot as I mentioned previously.
If you go with the Verbatim +R 16X, please burn these at 8X.

Like I said, you may never get a happy marriage with your bkups and every piece of hardware that you mentioned for playback
Also, like I said, this can be do to any number of factors, some within your control, some not.

                        Good luck

You could use a disc scanning program to see if the burn was good at the end of the disc. Programs to use could be Nero Discinfo or Optidrivecontrol.

I have found the DVD/VCR combo units are trouble when it comes to DVD back up playing as I had one some time ago and some back ups would play and others would not. My mom still has one and she even has problems with the DVDs she borrows from me but she has a spare DVD player for the trouble DVDs
