Problems burning Get Smart Season One

I have been trying to back up Get Smart Season One. The first two disks I wasted 4 DVD's trying to burn. After several attempts and reboots I was finally able to make the backup from file to DVD. The file and bad DVD's all play on the computer, but the bad DVD's won't play in the DVD player. The next two DVD's I tried to burn to disk first then make the backup copies. After two attempts I am now coming here.

I am not having any problems with other backups. Just this one. Does anyone have any ideas?

Yes need the logs as from what I read it seems you are having problem with original DVD and it just might be dirty or scratched and may not be able to copy

The logs are lengthy. I am giving you what is going on with that particular burn. Again, the burns complete successfully.

The original disks are in great shape. I do not recieve any errors throughout the backup process. The odd thing is, this occures with all of this series.

I have attached a portion of the log files from a previous post.

This is not a complete burn would you happen to have a complete burn ( it will be a little longer than the VSO log you posted.
Also your drive has a firmware update you will find it here http://www.firmwarehq.com/download_1...2(ew).zip.html
NOTE: If you do not know how to flash your drive do not do it, it will render your drive useless

I moved the log files and launched the backup again to create new ones. Let's see what happens. I don't believe it is the firmware because I have 4 different burners and it happens on all three of them (again, only with this series). I am trying to backup Get Smart Season 1 Disk 3 right now. I'll post again when I get some more data.

Try with Pathplayer Disabled for these Get Smart season DVDs as I believe they are older DVDs and not require Pathplayer

Okay, It failed again with the new log files in place. It is wierd. Again, no errors are shown. The DVD plays fine in the PC, but sits at the "TITLE" display on the DVD player (no picture on the TV).

I disabled Pathplayer and kicked off the backup from the HD. It worked this time. Not 100%, because the first two worked that way with Pathplayer enabled.

I am trying Season One Disk 4 from DVD to DVD with Pathplayer disabled to see if it works.

Exactly what is Pathplayer anyway? These are newer DVD's that are 7+GB. I am backing them up to DVD+R DL media. I'm not sure how this might affect the backup.

"PathPlayer gives DVDFab the ability to copy DVD content only allowed to be played on a real DVD player. In this way, DVDFab will ignore unplayable content which may contain copy protection.

PathPlayer works like a real DVD player, it follows every play path of a DVD, checking everything that you can access on a DVD player with a remote controller. When PathPlayer finishes, DVDFab can know all the content that a real DVD player will read. The copy protection exists in the unplayable DVD content, DVDFab will not read it when copying."

Well, I just finished backing up the 4th disk with the Pathplayer disabled. Works great. Again, not sure why this worked, but I'm not complaining.

Well glad it worked for you but remember to change Pathplayer back to Always enabled as it will be needed for DVDs with newer copy protection on them
