dvd fails to play at scene 11

I am having this happen on several but not all dvd's lately
here are 2 that are
dvd copy plays up to scene 11 or so and then freezes
dvd copys ok also

actually scene 10 which is around 40 mins into both movies.
I tried a few more burns and always the same spot it freezes.

update to latest release and give that a try but do not burn to DVD instead save the file to computer and play that file. If same problem post back the log files again but watch origianl DVD as well to rule out a bad DVD

ok i tried with newer version same thing
I did files to hard drive and played the movie in nero recode preview and it played all the way. I then burned and the movie plays up to the same spot.
This might be exactly where the movie goes from layer 1 to layer 2.
I can probably test it by burning a single layer at lower quality

is it my burner or dvd media?

Download and install ImgBurn as it let's you select the layer break instead of the VSO selecting one itself. This is the reason why I switched from the VSO burn engine to ImgBurn as I had problem with layer break for my DL back ups. Link below has the download link for ImgBurn and a youtube video on how to set it to work with DVDFab. ImgBurn is free

now thinking back to it - every dvd i have done with dual layer and when it hits the break may be broken.
I wonder if it is burner and I should just get a different one

still the exact same results

so perhaps either my media or my dvd burner is to blame.
I tried to find where to get a firmware update but could not determine what brand to get the firmware from.
the liteon auto firmware update didnt do anything so i think its not them.
I searched sony and philips but couldnt find the same numbers that show in computer device manager.

I think your DVD Drive is a OEM and firmware updates are scarce for them. Not sure myself where to look. I do know it not the media you are using as it seems you are using Verbatim DL. Have you tired playing the back ups in a different DVD player to see if get the same problem as it could be a player problem

ok i confirmed that a single layer dvd played just fine all the way thru.
The double layer doesnt play in any dvd player (or my bluray player).

I think i am just gonna get a new burner
