    Absolute newbie - please help

    Hi,
I just downloaded DVDFab last night and tried to copy my first DVD to my hard drive. It seemed to copy just fine, but I can't play it. When I use the DVD players already on my laptop, they want me to put a DVD in the drive. Next I tried going to the DVD file in my documents to try to just open/start the movie. What I found is a lot of different files. None of them seem to be something I can use to just play the movie. I really am a newbie and clearly have no idea what I'm doing. I would really like to download several movies onto my harddrive (or a thumbdrive) to watch on an upcoming trip. Can anyone give me a simple lesson? (Simple is really important)

You're actually complicating things a bit by opening the files.
Download and install VLC, it's free and a little gem of a player

Just right click on the entire movie folder...not the individual files, and select
    open with VLC.
The movie should start at the beginning and play right through.
The VLC controls will allow you to navigate the files just as if it were a dvd
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I would as well like to let you know you are out of date for DVDFab and need to update to latest released version locate in link below. In addition to maineman's excellent advise on VLC player you can as well open the folder and select the first IFO file to playback with the softplayer already installed on laptop

Thank you Mainman and AGJ!! I download VLC and it worked great. I also downloaded the newer version of DVD Fab. I only have one question now. When I watch the movie in VLC the movie does not fill the whole screen like it does when I put the DVD in my laptop. I did find the button to make the movie larger, but it still has about a 1" border around it with no picture. Any suggestions to make the movie fill the entire screen?

I'm not sure what you mean by the button to make the movie larger?
Do you mean the windows minimize/maximize button on the upper right of a window?
If you've already used the maximize button then just right click on the screen and select Video ----> Full screen
            or
click on Video (upper toolbar) and select Full Screen from the dropdown.

            Another great, free player is
            Media Player Classic Home Cinema

Hi again - I'm back again with another question. I loaded VLC on my laptop and am able to play the movies with no problem. My husband has a little netbook with XP Home 32 bit and he could not load VLC on his. He did load Media Player Home Classic. I've run into the same problem now on his computer that I had before I loaded VLC on my computer. I cannot open the movie on his computer. When I right click on the movie to open it, Media Player Home Classic is not an option. If I go into Media Player HC to open the movie, then browse and find the movie folder, it only opens the folder - which then holds 2 more folders - the audio and the video.

Any suggestions on how to play the movies using Media Player Home Classic. I'm sure I must be missing something very obvious.

Open the Video folder with Media Player Home Classic.

                The Audio folder is empty.
The audio is in the Video folder.
