Never Writes the DVD, Just Sits There

I just purchased DVDFab and have only been able to back up one DVD which was an older one (a couple of years old). It went fine. I've tried to back up two different DVD's that I just purchased and when I do those it looks like the whole copy process goes just fine. But when it kicks out the DVD and I put the blank in it seems to recognize the blank and it shows that it's writing but the %complete never moves. I've let it sit for hours and it never start writing. No error messages or anything.

Please post your logs, process, internal and burn logs
In particular, please include the burn log from the one successful burn and one from the failed log.

The default location is:
C:\Users (For XP Documents and Settings)\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log

This is another sign that your drive does not like the media you are using.

Write to the Power Calibration Area: you can only do this 99 times but this error is commonly caused by poor-quality media or attempting to use an unsupported media type.

Buy better media or continue to have problems and a lot of drink coasters

Yup, agreed.
Your burner and firmware are not at all happy with the marginal quality media.
Additionally, you are swimming against the tide with the hp burner...usually decent hardware, but horrible firmware support and by using VSO, which is problematic for many users.

Definitely change to either Taiyo Yuden or the Verbatims with the AZO Dye logo (symbol) on the spindle wrapper....no matter what.
You'll be far better off in the long run.

Please switch to Img for your default burn engine.
Click on the link in my sig entitled:
Setting Up ImgBurn and DVDab to work together .
This contains all the info you'll need and an excellent video tutorial.
You can try the Ritek media again with Img and you may have some success, but even so, please make the media change as suggested

You can also look for a firmware update for your burner and depeending on the manufacturer, it may be possible to crossflash to a more "compatible" firmware, but this is the last thing to try.
